Indiana University (IU) teaches 80 world languages in 9 degree-granting language departments, and offers non-degree online, in-person, and overseas language training for grads, undergrads, high school students, and lifelong learners. With National Language Flagship Programs in Arabic, Chinese, and Russian, IU consistently produces students with professional proficiency. IU is known for its summer Language Workshop, serving 300 students annually in intensive online, immersion, and overseas programs. IU offers study abroad programs in 52 countries. IU has 6 National Resource Centers, 2 National Language Resource Centers, and 8 centers that grant Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowships. The university is part of the Title VIII, Title VI, and Project GO communities, offering substantial student support through these and other funding programs. Through its Language Training Center, IU provides language training to U.S. Department of Defense personnel across the nation.
