WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT TRAVEL TO AND FROM SOUTH AFRICA: 28 JANUARY 2021
- The Travel Ban effective from 30 January 2021 do not apply to US citizens or legal residents of the US.
- US Citizens are allowed to travel to South Africa and return to the USA.
What do you need to travel to South Africa?
- The Airlines will need a negative Covid test before you will be allowed to travel.
- Your Covid test should be no older than 72 hours of date and time of travel.
What do you need to return to the US?
- You will again need a negative Covid test - no older than 72 hours of date and time of travel before you will be allowed travel on a flight back to the U.S.
- You might need to self-isolate at home upon entering the U.S. This is not a requirement but might be regulated by some States.
Covid-19 Testing Required for U.S. Entry
Effective January 26, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will require all air passengers entering the United States (including U.S. citizens and Legal Permanent Residents) to present a negative COVID-19 test, taken within three calendar days of departure, or proof of recovery from the virus within the last 90 days. Airlines must confirm the negative test result or proof of recent recovery for all passengers prior to boarding. Airlines must deny boarding of passengers who do not provide documentation of a negative test or recovery.

Travelling to South Africa
- The Airlines require that you wear a face mask while travelling.
What happens upon your arrival in South Africa
- You present your negative Covid test and are allowed into South Africa.
- As per our normal high standards – Your Professional Hunter will meet you at the Airport upon your arrival and drive you to our Lodge.
How do you get your Covid test in South Africa?
- Your Professional Hunter will take you to the testing facility closest to your lodge 2 days before your departure.
- You will then continue to hunt as testing stations are available even in the smallest town.
- Your results will be emailed to you.
- On the day of your departure your Professional Hunter will take you back to the testing facility to get the original copy of your results.
- Important to know: we will guide you through the whole process – your Professional Hunter will be with you the whole time!
The Covid-19 situation in South Africa today
- The latest Covid-19 statistics for South Africa indicate a drastic decline in positive test numbers, and is less than the daily infections of the U.S.
- With South Africa’s strict regulations to curb the spread, and the statistics as proof thereof, South Africa should be your destination of choice.

- Very important to remember: our lodges and hunting areas are situated in rural areas.
- You hunt in the isolated bush environment.
- Rural areas have low infection rates with minimal human contact therefore our lodges are a very safe space.
- We have allocated sanitizing areas in our lodges.
- All bedrooms will be equipped with sanitizers.
- The Lodge and your room will, on a daily basis, be cleaned with a high grade sanitizer.
- As per regulations: your temperature will be logged upon on your arrival.
- All WWS staff will get Covid tested before they return to work and will be temperature checked each day.
- All WWS staff will wear masks.
- Laundry are done on a daily basis with a sanitizing soap.
- Sanitizers and face masks available in all vehicles.
- All our vehicles are cleaned and sanitized on a daily basis.
- We will take ALL the relevant and required precautions to ensure that you have a comfortable and as far as possible, a risk free Safari.

- Emirates Airlines (via Dubai) to South Africa.
- Emirates flights operate from Houston, Atlanta, JFK in New York and Chicago.
- Qatar Airlines (via Doha) to South Africa.
- Qatar flights operate from fly out of the following USA cities: Dallas, Houston, New York, Washington DC, Miami, Chicago and Boston.
- Ethiopian Airlines (via Addis Ababa) to South Africa
- The Ethiopian flight operates from Washington DC.
- Delta Airlines will resume their flights to South Africa on 1 March 2021.
- Delta offers a daily direct flight from Atlanta to Johannesburg.
United airlines will launch their direct flight from Newark to Johannesburg at the end of March 2021.
