This single engine air tanker is capable of departing an airport loaded with retardant and then scooping water from a nearby lake, river, or reservoir to provide sustained attack on a fire. Powered by the highly reliable 1,600 hp Pratt & Whitney PT6A-67F engine, the Fire Boss can carry up to 800 U.S. gallons of water or retardant. The aircraft''s foam injection system has a maximum capacity of 78 U.S. gallons. If a fire is located in close proximity to a suitable water source, the Fire Boss can deliver more than 40 loads before having to return to an airport for fuel.The Fire Boss has an excellent record in terms of safety; dispatch reliability; and low operating and maintenance costs.
