Fire Boss LLC markets and supports the amphibious water scooping Air Tractor AT-802 Fire Boss. This single engine air tanker is capable of departing an airport loaded with retardant and then scooping water from a nearby lake, river, or reservoir to provide sustained attack on a fire.
Powered by the highly reliable 1,600 hp Pratt & Whitney PT6A-67F engine, the Fire Boss can carry up to 800 U.S. gallons of water or retardant. The aircraft''s foam injection system has a maximum capacity of 78 U.S. gallons. If a fire is located in close proximity to a suitable water source, the Fire Boss can deliver more than 40 loads before having to return to an airport for fuel.
