 Press Releases

    • LT7 Tube Laser will perform real-time demonstrations illustrating its ultimate productivity and versatility on the show floor.
    • Proprietary Active Tools from BLM GROUP allow the LT7 to automate processes.
    • BLM GROUP to showcase this and other fabricating machines including debuting an interactive AI-powered 3D model of its new LT12 Tube Laser.

Toronto, Canada – BLM GROUP is demonstrating its versatile and highly productive LT7 Tube Laser with 4 kW power and inverted loader in booth #3031 at FABTECH Canada. The LT7 features a 3D tilt cutting head and can perform high-precision angular cuts in round tubes, square, rectangle, open profiles and special sections from 0.5” to 6”, up to 15.5 lbs/ft, and is available with a 3-5 kW fiber laser.

At FABTECH Canada, the LT7 will be shown processing a variety of tubular materials including:

    • 2" Square Stainless Steel (0.065" wall thickness)
    • 3" Angle Mild Steel (0.500" wall thickness)
    • 4" Round Aluminum (0.250" wall thickness)

The LT7 provides ultimate productivity for the shop floor as it is automatically ready for each production changeover, as well as allowing users to select the optimal loading and unloading length according to their specific production needs. At the end of each batch, the loader, spindle, bezel and intermediate supports adapt to the new section to be cut, without ever interrupting the production cycle.

The system can be paired with automated loading and unloading as well as an optional thread insertion unit. This patent-pending technology automatically installs thread inserts into laser-cut holes by press fitting, simplifying and shortening the processing time for mating an insert with a tubular component.

The LT7 is equipped with Active Tools including Active Scan, Active Weld and Active Tilt, which help the machine automatically adapt process parameters for optimal results. These tools, based upon the company’s decades of laser cutting experience, are designed to help produce high-quality parts repeatably and independently of the operator’s experience level.

    • Optimum accuracy and high speeds meet the demands of even the most complex sheet metal applications.
    • BLM GROUP to showcase this and other fabricating machines including debuting an interactive AI-powered 3D model of its new LT12 Tube Laser.

Toronto, Ontario -- BLM GROUP is demonstrating a variety of bends using 20-gauge mild steel on its all-electric ProBend E-Series Press Brake at FABTECH Canada 2024, booth #3031. These high-precision press brakes offer reliability and high productivity in models ranging from 44-276 tons that are capable of handling bending lengths of 4’-17’.

The direct-drive design of the ProBend E-Series features a ball screw directly connected to the torque motor, eliminating gearboxes and belts for fewer moving components. Being an electric-powered machine, this press brake offers noise and maintenance-free operation, as well as extremely fast approach, bending and ram return speeds along with positioning and repeatability of ±0.0001".

The ProBend comes standard with a substantial amount of stroke and open height compared to industry standards, benefiting deep box or special forming needs. Built for optimum accuracy and high speeds on all 6-axes, the ProBend’s CNC-controlled backgauge meets the demands of the most complex sheet metal applications for high-production manufacturing.

The ProBend comes with a state-of-the-art 21.5” touchscreen console, enabling graphical or direct mode programming directly on the machine or offline. The intuitive control interface, with advanced functions and a step-by-step guideis designed to accommodate varying skill levels of operators. The software automatically generates the part program from the imported CAD model and calculates the optimal bend sequence, stop positions, and tooling set-up.  A complete bending simulation, with automatic validations and checks, allows the user to verify the entire bending cycle and begin producing parts, correctly, from the start.

    • E-TURN52, a Tube Bender from BLM GROUP that can handle right- and left-hand bends in the same cycle, will perform real-time demonstrations on the show floor.
    • VGPNext proprietary software allows for full 3D graphical simulation of bends, pre-job.
    • BLM GROUP to showcase this and other fabricating machines including debuting an interactive AI-powered 3D model of its new LT12 Tube Laser.

Toronto, Ontario – BLM GROUP is demonstrating its all-electric E-Turn52 Tube Bender featuring MC1052 hole detection at FABTECH Canada 2024, booth #3031. The system will process a 1.75” round stainless-steel tube with 0.065” wall thickness using hole detection to locate various features on the end of the tube. The machine will then draw-bend the tube in both right-hand and left-hand directions. Additionally, variable radius tooling will be used to create a large radius bend.

The E-TURN52 has an all-electric drive that ensures precision control of the movements along 15 axes, providing high accuracy and consistency that results in perfect quality bends and zero scrap. It can also attain up to 80% savings in power consumption and it has simplified cabling components that reduce the rate of maintenance compared to conventional hydraulic bending machines.

The E-TURN model is available in four sizes that hold a maximum tube O.D. capacity ranging from 1.18” x 0.079” (30 mm x 2 mm) up to 2” x 0.059” (50.8 mm x 1.5 mm). Tubes in variety of material and section types—such as round, square, rectangle, flat-sided, oval and elliptical—can be automatically loaded, bent and unloaded. This makes the E-TURN the ideal solution to the growing market demand for bending medium-to-small batches of complex, multiple-shaped tubular components of high-quality material.

Programming:  A key differentiator of the E-TURN is VGPNext, the programming and 3D simulation software.  By simply inputting the component bend coordinates, the complete bending cycle is graphically simulated, highlighting potential collision risks and producing the optimal working cycle. Part feasibility is checked virtually, eliminating the need for prototype tooling or physical testing on the machine.  Unloading of the finished part is also automatically managed by VGPNext, with the 180-degree head rotation allowing it to be unloaded in final position.

Changeover times are significantly reduced, and machine-setup is simplified, as all critical settings for tooling are managed automatically by the CNC. This combined with self-calibration enables true simultaneous and automatic axis movement.
