Profile: The Ferris doctoral program was created for leaders of mission-driven, 21st century community colleges. Application-based and taught by academic faculty in partnership with experienced community college leaders, including presidents, this program is designed to prepare leaders for the changing environments in education. This inquiry-based, problem-solving, action-oriented approach is designed to develop the essential skills that will lead to success. Courses cover areas including finance, technology, leadership, resource development, marketing, teaching and learning, policy, and leadership. A key feature of the program is that the dissertation may take any of four forms and will be integrated throughout the three-year program with a goal to have individuals complete the dissertation by the end of the three years of the program.
