Charles “Buzzy” Vanchiere Award-Supported by Physician's Computer Company

This award recognizes a pediatrician who has made outstanding contributions toward helping pediatricians build effective managerial skills and providing training and tools for fellows to negotiate preferential use of pediatric care and appropriate compensation.

Byron Oberst Award

$2,000

This award recognizes pediatricians who have made significant contributions to the use of clinical information technology in pediatrics.

Council on Clinical Information Technology (COCIT) Best Paper Award and Poster-Viewing Reception

$3,500

This award and reception provides an opportunity to showcase the latest applications of information technology to the practice of pediatrics.

Council on School Health Milton JE Senn Award

 $1,500

The Senn Award is given to a person who has distinguished him or herself nationally in the field of school health and/or who has contributed significantly to the AAP Council on School Health to improve the welfare of school children.

Council on School Health Martin C. Ushkow Award

$1,500

The Ushkow Award recognizes a physician, school health professional, or organization that has contributed to the welfare of children in school and/or the community by actively promoting coordinated school health programs or by promoting physician and health professions education in school health.

Council on Sports Medicine and Fitness Thomas E. Shaffer, MD, FAAP Award & Luncheon

This award recognizes an individual who has made a lifelong contribution to the field of sports medicine.

Council on Sports Medicine and Fitness Resident and Fellowship Breakfast

 $5,000

This breakfast is for residents interested in applying for a sports medicine fellowship. The goal is to connect these individuals with the primary care fellowship directors and sports medicine fellows so they can ask questions and get more information on the process. The breakfast will be informal for attendees.

This annual award recognizes an AAP member who exemplifies excellence in the field of adolescent health.

Section on Cardiology & Cardiac Surgery Founders Award

$5,200

The Founders Award recognizes outstanding contributions in the field of pediatric cardiology and cardiovascular surgery.

Section on Cardiology & Cardiac Surgery Young Investigator Award & Education Travel Grant

Sponsorship: $7,500

This award and grant is awarded to the top abstract presentations focused on clinical or basic science in the area of cardiology.

Section on Cardiology & Cardiac Surgery Research Fellowship Award-Supported by the Webster Foundation

Supports fellow-in-training to conduct clinical or basic science research in pediatric cardiology or cardiovascular surgery.

Section on Critical Care Distinguished Career Award

 $1,000

Honors a pediatric intensivist who has made significant contributions to the field of pediatric critical care.

Section on Critical Care New Investigator Research Award

$10,000

Honors a new research investigator who has demonstrated a strong aptitude for clinical or basic science research and who presented a sound plan of investigation.

Section on Developmental & Behavioral Pediatrics C. Anderson Aldrich Award

$2,500

The Award, named honorably in the memory of Dr. Aldrich, a founding member of the AAP and pioneer in child development, acknowledges a pediatrician who has made outstanding contributions to the field of child development.

Section on Emergency Medicine Ken Graff Young Investigator Research Award

$10,000

Recognizes an important research project that addresses issues pertinent to the acutely ill or injured child.

Section on Emergency Medicine Jim Seidel Distinguished Service Award

$1,000

The Pediatric Emergency Medicine Distinguished Service Award recognizes an individual who has made outstanding contributions to the field of pediatric emergency medicine.

Section on Surgery Program Reception—Scientific Sessions and Award Presentations

$25,000

The Saturday session will consist of scientific sessions, a presentation of the William E. Ladd Medal, followed by the Stephen L. Gans Distinguished Overseas Lecture and presentation of the Arnold Salzberg Mentorship Award. New members will be introduced before the Section Business Meeting, followed by the Lunch Poster Session.

Pediatric Hospital Medicine Abstract Research Award

 $1,200

The award recognizes outstanding original research in hospital medicine.

Section on Orthopaedics Meeting Activities Abstract Program Publication-Supported by the NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases and Children's Hospital and Medical Center of Missouri

Publish all pediatric orthopaedic abstracts accepted for presentation at the NCE in a pocket program booklet.

Section on Orthopaedics Distinguished Service Award

 $7,000

Recognizes an individual in the field of pediatric orthopaedics who has contributed to the AAP mission of excellence in patient care, research, or teaching.

Section on Orthopaedics Reception

$6,000

After the educational programming, a networking opportunity for the Section on Orthopaedics will be held to discuss problems and treatments related to orthopaedics in children.

Section on Orthopaedics Resident Research Awards

 $2,500

Recognizes research excellence demonstrated by a resident working in the field of pediatric orthopaedics and encourages further research by residents.

Section on Orthopaedics Resident & Student Reception

 $6,000

Reception follows the educational forum for residents and students in the field of orthopaedics to network

Section on Orthopaedics Resident Ambassador Awards

Assists medical students, residents, and fellowship trainees who are presenting abstracts in attending the Section on Orthopaedics Program.

To get a resident representation from each resident training programs to attend the Academy’s National Conference and Exhibition.

Transport Medicine Reception $2,500

The purpose of the 2011 Neonatal and Pediatric Critical Care Transport Medicine Course is to educate the attendees on the latest advances in transport medicine. The participants will learn the latest clinical issues regarding the care of transport patients as well as the administration, planning, and delivery of pediatric interfacility transport. Underwrite the cost of implementing the course.

Section on Infectious Diseases Resident Travel Grant

Sponsorship: $5,000

NCE travel grants are offered annually to residents or fellows in training with an interest in infectious diseases an opportunity to attend the NCE and network with leadership. The travel grant recipients are announced at the beginning of the Meet the Red Book Committee session.

Section on Infectious Diseases Award for Lifetime Contribution to Infectious Diseases Education

Sponsorship: $2,500

This award is given annually to an Academy member who has made an outstanding contribution to education in infectious diseases. The candidate’s contribution should be of a substantial long-term dedication to the highest ideals of education. Preference is made for those who have focused on education of practitioners. Current members of the Section on Infectious Diseases Executive Committee are not eligible to receive the award.
