About the Editor

AAP Experience executive committee planning group member Joseph A. Zenel, MD, FAAP is a professor in pediatrics at the University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine. Dr Zenel received his medical degree from Georgetown University, completed residency at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children and is board certified in general pediatrics. Career highlights include the National Health Service, private practice and switching to academic medicine at Oregon Health & Science University. In 2008 he moved to South Dakota to start the Dakota's first pediatric residency program. Academic pursuits include practice, teaching, authoring, lecturing, working with the National Board of Medical Examiners and serving as deputy editor for Pediatrics in Review.
