Muscle Health - The Gateway to Population Health Management

Muscular strength testing is not new to industry.  It does not fit all jobs.  It fits best with physically demanding jobs.  Musculo-skeletal (MSK) injuries are still the number one injury in industry especially for physically demanding jobs.  The shoulder injury is now the number one MSK in terms of frequency and cost.

The IPCS strength test (PCE) is designed to protect the worker from MSK injuries.   The reason why the PCE works (protects the worker against MSK) is that it assesses the force generating capability of the shoulders and knees and these two joints are critical to safely performing the essential functions of the job.

A healthy and strong muscle mass increases the chance of better managing and preventing certain diseases such as Type II Diabetes, Cardiovascular Disease, certain Cancers, Dementia and Hypertension to name a few.   A healthy muscle mass also helps in maintaining an enhanced immune system to help fight off various viruses and disease.

The IPCS PCE also is also designed to enhance health and fits into a company's wellness or benefit plan to assess muscular health on an annual basis.
