Overview

The American Association of Neuroscience Nurses (AANN) and the American Board of Neuroscience Nursing (ABNN) are committed to working for the highest standard of care for neuroscience patients by advancing the science and practice of neuroscience nursing. AANN and ABNN support neuroscience nurses and their patients by providing continuing education, specialty nursing certification in neuroscience (CNRN) and stroke (SCRN), and certificate programs for Seizure and Epilepsy Healthcare Professionals

The purpose of the Seizure and Epilepsy certificate program is to provide foundational knowledge to provide evidence-based care to patients who have seizures and epilepsy, who are admitted to an Epilepsy Monitoring Unit and who are being evaluated for and/or undergoing surgery for medically refractory epilepsy. Completion of the 8-module certificate program followed by a post-assessment will enhance the professional's and facility's ability to care for patients admitted to a comprehensive epilepsy center or EMU and will meet NAEC accreditation requirements for nursing expertise in epilepsy.
