 Press Releases

  • Wisconsin Oven Corporation announced the shipment of an electrically heated horizontal quench system to a supplier of the Aerospace industry. The system will be used to solution heat treat and rapidly quench a variety of aluminum parts.

The horizontal quench furnace has a maximum temperature rating of 1,250°F, a work chamber of 6’W x 2’H x 4’L. It is electrically heated with 144kW of heat input and SCR power control. The recirculation system utilizes a 15,000 CFM blower with combination air flow design to maximize temperature uniformity. This horizontal quench system features guaranteed temperature uniformity (+/-5°F at 870° F and 1,000° F) and meets the requirements of AMS 2750E Class 1.

The quench tank is a 12 gauge 304 stainless steel construction, and utilizes a pneumatically actuated quench elevator to lower and raise the load into the tank. The system provides a seven (7) second maximum quench time. The quench tank has a 1,600 gallon capacity and agitation pump rated for 250 gallons per minute. The tank is designed for a 20°F maximum water temperature rise (when load is quenched).

“A Horizontal Quench System is a cost effective option for our customers that perform solution heat treating processes. It offers many of the typical drop bottom capabilities and features with a smaller footprint, saving on the customer’s valuable floor space.”  Jim Lucas, Senior Sales Engineer

Unique features of this horizontal quench furnace include:

    • Seven (7) second maximum quench time
    • Non-heated stainless steel rinse tank with agitation
    • Powered load/unload table
    • Meets AMS 2750E Class 1 specifications

  • Wisconsin Oven Corporation shipped one (1) natural gas (direct) fired two zone indexing conveyor oven withcooling. The indexing oven will be used for hydrogen embrittlement relief of steel parts.

The conveyor oven has a maximum operating temperature of 600°F and work chamber dimensions of 3’ W x 32’ L x 3’ H. The design capacity of the conveyor oven, when preheated, has sufficient capability to heat 2,670 pounds per hour of steel from 70° to 500°F and has a tolerance of ±10°F from the set point of 500°F. The oven ductwork features adjustable, factory preset louvers for optimum air flow efficiencies. They are arranged for combination air flow through the work chamber with a total rating of 38,000 CFM @ 30 HP.

The conveyor system consists of four (4) carbon steel roller chains and an internal slide bed. The production rate is based on loading one stack of trays four (4) high on the conveyor and indexing them through the oven. Each stack of trays weighs 2,000 pounds. The design of the conveyor oven maximizes the amount of product processed by utilizing separate zones. Zone one will contain two (2) stacks of trays; zone two will contain five (5) stacks of trays and the cooling chamber will contain two (2) stacks of trays. The load and unload extensions are capable of holding two stacks.

“The customer wanted to maximize their production rate, therefore we created a design which utilized multiple trays and zones to continuously process the parts.” – Nicholas Toci, Sales Engineer

Unique features of this oven include:

    • Four (4) personnel access doors, two (2) per side of the oven for ease of maintenance
    • Two (2) industrial air heat burners for a total of 1,200,000 BTU’s
    • A cool down system utilizing two (2) blowers rated 8,000 CFM at 5 HP
    • Programmable temperature controller with auto-tune function
    • Temperature recorder with batch tracking software, RS-485 and Ethernet communication capabilities

The hydrogen embrittlement relief oven was fully factory tested and adjusted prior to shipment to from our facility. All safety interlocks are checked for proper operation and the equipment is operated at the normal and maximum operating temperatures. An extensive quality assurance check list was completed to ensure the equipment met all Wisconsin Oven quality standards. This oven is also proudly backed by Wisconsin Oven’s Exclusive and Unprecedented 3-Year WOW™ warranty. This warranty covers all materials for all components (less wear items).

  • Horizontal Quench Furnaces
A Horizontal Quench Furnace is Your Cost-Effective Solution to a Drop Bottom Furnace...

  • Wisconsin Oven’s horizontal quench furnaces are available in ten (10) standard sizes (custom sizes available) and either gas fired or electrically heated. The horizontal quench furnace is a cost- effective alternative to our drop bottom furnaces. The equipment utilizes an electrically operated pusher/extractor mechanism that provides a quench time as low as seven (7) seconds, which combined with the load capacity of up to 6,000 lbs makes it ideal for solution treating applications.

The horizontal quench furnace utilizes a high capacity recirculation blower, along with fully enclosed & pressurized supply ducts, delivers heated air with a combination airflow arrangement. This type of uniform airflow ensures even heat distribution throughout the work chamber and excellent temperature uniformity.

All units are fully factory tested, adjusted and certified by a 154 point quality inspection PRIOR to shipment, which results in lower installation and start-up costs. Optional PLC control, data acquisition, trending, and reporting are also available.
