  • The MaxSHOT 3D photogrammetry cameras bring unmatched ease-of-use and accuracy to large-scale dimensional measurement projects for product development, manufacturing and quality control applications

Lévis, Québec, April 27, 2017Creaform, the worldwide leader in portable 3D measurement solutions and engineering services, today announced the launch of a new generation of optical coordinate measuring systems, the MaxSHOT Next. Quality control and product development specialists from the aerospace, automotive, transportation and heavy industries will benefit from the system’s live go/no-go guidance feature for even more accurate and reliable measurements for their large-scale metrology projects.

Building on the first generation of MaxSHOT 3D™, Creaform has achieved a major industry milestone by developing an “intelligent” measurement solution that autonomously guides users to the right measurements within VXelements™. Considered a serious alternative to laser trackers for many applications, the new MaxSHOT 3D can be used as a standalone measurement device and also be used in combination with Creaform’s 3D scanners and portable CMMs. Major benefits are:

    • 40% more accurate with volumetric accuracy of up to 0.015 mm/m.
    • Visual projections with live go/no-go feedback directly on the part, guiding the user to the correct position to take the shot for unparalleled ease-of-use.
    • New light, ergonomic design engineered specifically for photogrammetric measurement of large parts ranging from 2 to 10 meters.
    • Improved hardware reliability and multifunction buttons for easier interaction with the software in shop-floor conditions.
    • Available in Standard and Elite versions.
    • And much more! For detailed information about the new features, please visit www.creaform3d.com.

“With first-time-right data acquisition and measurements, the new optical coordinate measuring system is a game changer in metrology for large-scale projects,” explains Daniel Brown, Product Management Director at Creaform. “Photogrammetry complexity, lack of metrology experience and the latent human error factor are no longer obstacles to high-quality measurements with the MaxSHOT 3D. Users of all levels can be confident that their measurements are right and can be used as a solid and reliable foundation for their dimensional inspection projects.”

Creaform will be at CONTROL 2017 in Stuttgart, Germany, this May, at which the MaxSHOT 3D will be on display for the first time. Users looking to improve their measurement times in large-scale metrology projects can see live demonstrations of the system used independently or in combination with other Creaform technologies in Hall 5, at Stand 5108, May 9–12.

  • Creaform now an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory

ISO/IEC 17025:2005 accreditation for technical competence of testing and calibration laboratory represents a commitment to continuous improvement in quality testing for development of metrology-grade measuring equipment

Lévis, Québec, July 17, 2017Creaform, the worldwide leader in portable and highly accurate 3D measurement solutions, is pleased to announce that its Canada-based head office has received the ISO/IEC 17025:2005 accreditation from the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA).

The ISO/IEC 17025:2005 accreditation is an internationally recognized standard for testing and calibration. Laboratories accredited as per the ISO/IEC 17025 standard have demonstrated their technical competencies related to the calibration of its technologies. Creaform also follows the ASME B89.4.22 Standard for its acceptance testing and holds an ISO 9001:2008 certification for its quality management system.

“With an increasing demand for rigorous quality control, this recognition reaffirms our commitment to quality to our clients and further solidifies our position as a metrology-grade manufacturer,” states Daniel Brown, Product Management Director at Creaform.

“This designation means that Creaform uses the highest calibration laboratory management standards and has the technical competencies to guarantee that its 3D measurement products meet their technical specifications,” adds Karl Chabot, Creaform’s Quality and Regulatory Affairs Manager. “This certification for the HandyPROBE Next™ optical portable CMM product line-up serves as a recognized warranty of consistency in the delivery of high quality and traceable products.”

Creaform was awarded certificate No. 4274.01 on March 15th, 2017, showing full compliance with the international testing standard in the field of calibration. To view that certificate of accreditation, visit Creaform online at www.creaform3d.com/en/corporate/certifications-and-associations.

  • Creaform’s MaxSHOT Next™ receives Red Dot Award: Product Design 2017!

The new optical coordinate measuring system received Red Dot distinction for high-design quality and innovation

Lévis, Québec, May 16, 2017Creaform, the worldwide leader in portable 3D measurement solutions and engineering services, is pleased to announce that its latest product innovation is the recipient of the prestigious Red Dot Award: Product Design 2017, one of the most sought-after international quality marks for good design. The MaxSHOT Next optical coordinate measuring system was selected among 5,500 entries from 54 countries for its high-design quality and innovation.

The new MaxSHOT 3D is designed to provide users, and not just metrology experts, with photogrammetry abilities while enabling them to move freely around the parts thanks to its new design and enhanced capabilities. Building on the product’s portability and unique characteristics that make it ideal for photogrammetry applications, the new MaxSHOT 3D features simple lines that are integrated into a sleek, funnel design that evoke precision:

    • Lightweight proportioned construction and well-balanced center of gravity for maximum freedom of movement.
    • Intuitive grip designed for effortless operations around large parts.
    • Integrated laser indicators that reflects on parts for live feedback, which guides users to take the right pictures.
    • Heat sink optimized with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) heat transfer analysis.
    • Multifunction buttons that ensure increased user efficiency and complete integration with Creaform’s VXelements 3D software platform and application suite.

According to the Red Dot Design Award jury, “The MaxSHOT 3D represents an accomplished interplay of geometric forms. Moreover, thanks to its optimally balanced center of gravity, the device rests well in the hand.”

“The MaxSHOT 3D is a great design at the intersection of form, function, and user experience,” commented Nicolas Lebrun and François Lessard, the two industrial designers behind its design. “Ergonomics were a priority to achieve a product design that is functional and meets application requirements. Since photogrammetry includes taking pictures all around a measured part, from several angles, the device had to be easy and comfortable to operate. The MaxSHOT 3D offers an experience that sets it apart from traditional photogrammetry devices—all the while being a sensible alternative to laser trackers.”

“The MaxSHOT 3D is the third technology in our line-up of metrology solutions to win a Red Dot Design Award,” noted Marco St-Pierre, Vice-President Innovation and Technology at Creaform. “It follows the HandySCAN 3D in 2015 and another quality control solution last year that included the MetraSCAN 3D, HandyPROBE and C-Track, which also caught the eye of the jury.

“Recognition by such a reputable organization is a mark of excellence and a testament to the quality products we strive to develop for our customers,” he adds.

The MaxSHOT 3D made its first appearance in May 2017 at CONTROL in Stuttgart, Germany and moves on to other tradeshows across America, Europe and Asia. For a complete list of upcoming events, visit the website.
