    Inert Partners with Sievgen on Powder Handling Solutions for Additive Manufacturers

    Amesbury, Mass. – March 22, 2017 – Inert (www.inert-am.com) and Sievgen (www.sievgen.com) announce a new partnership for supplying powder handling equipment to the US additive manufacturing market. The two companies based in Amesbury, MA and Mapledurwell, UK will work together to promote the Sievgen 04 automated sieving station to companies working with powders used in the 3D printing process.

    “It was a win-win situation,” explains Inert President Daniel Clay. “We met with Farleygreene (the sieving experts behind Sievgen) at last year’s TCT show in Birmingham, and that initial meeting lead to discussions about how our two companies can benefit from what the other has to offer. We’ve been providing inert gas enclosures to additive manufacturers, now we can offer them more ways to improve their AM processes with the Sievgen in our portfolio.”

    Amesbury, Mass. – March 22, 2017 – Having collaborated with several key 3D printing companies in 2015 and 2016, Inert (www.inerttechnology.com) will debut its new standard glove box enclosure for de-powdering printed parts at Rapid + TCT in booth 1147, May 9-11 at the David. L. lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh, PA. Designed for the unique requirements of 3D printed parts and materials, Inert’s new de-powdering enclosure offers additive manufacturers a safe and efficient way to process and de-powder metal 3D printed parts. This new single operator system is an upgraded glove box enclosure with features designed foe the health and safety of the operator, the efficient reclamation of titanium and other costly metal powders, and protection of the material from oxidization and environmental contamination.  

    Inert President Daniel Clay says, “We’ve taken the solutions Inert engineered for our customers in additive manufacturing and combined them into a new, standard glove box model. Companies working with metal powders like titanium understand that an inert environment is essential for structurally solid printed results. Our new glove box system has several additional features that make it the ideal solution to the problems these companies face with de-powerding parts, and metal powder handling and storage.”

    The new De-Powdering Enclosure is equipped with a hermetically sealed interior and exterior including two gloveports. A mechanically operated rotating tilt table allows 3D printed parts to be locked in place for easy de-powdering with integrated argon gun. Unidirectional flow funnels powders to a collection well, with powder storage kegs.

    The debut of this new system will be coupled with Inert’s Argon-2, a closed loop gas management system that provides a continuous recirculation, purification, and analysis of the argon environment inside the hermetically sealed glove box. The Argon-2 is one model in a suite of gas management systems offered by Inert to provide safe working conditions for oxygen and water sensitive applications.

    Optional features of the de-powdering enclosure include O2 and H2O ppm analyzers, integrated sieving station, powder hoppers, and transfer chambers.

    The De-Powdering Enclosure is equipped with a Class A hermetically sealed, hinged front window design featuring an inflatable and resealable gasket with two gloveports for the operator to manipulate interior equipment without exposure to particles. A mechanically operated rotating tilt table flush mounted to the floor allows 3D printed parts to be locked in place and accessed from all sides for easy de-powdering with an integrated argon blow off gun. The perforated floor with angled gravity feed and unidirectional flow can be connected to an inert powder hopper for safe and efficient collection of reusable powders.
