Tekna manufactures spherical metallic powders for additive manufacturing applications, such as powder bed fusion (laser and EB) and directed energy deposition processes. Tekna mainly produces spherical powders of Ti-6Al-4V for medical and aerospace applications. These titanium alloy powders have a high level of sphericity and flowability, low oxygen content, high density (bulk and tapped), as well as controlled particle size distribution. These properties are necessary to make it compatible with the most demanding industrial applications. Tekna also manufactures other types of spheres such as W, Mo, Ta, and Al. Tekna's equipment division manufactures plasma systems to produce spherical powders at R&D, pilot and industrial scale.

  • This plasma technology allows to convert an initial powder feedstock (atomized, crushed, spray-dried, sponge) into high density spherical powders for AM applications. 

    Processes developed at 15 kW can be easily scaled up for production at power level up to 200 kW on similar induction
    plasma technology.
