Xact Metal supports the next generation of innovative manufacturing solutions powered
by metal 3D printing
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (April 7, 2017) Metal additive manufacturing technology is
evolving quickly from a niche tool used primarily in university research to an industry tool
used to develop and manufacture products faster and at a lower cost. Xact Metal, a new
company launched in early 2017, is making metal additive manufacturing systems
affordable for small- to mid-sized companies to afford.
“At Xact Metal, we’re taking the essential specs that direct metal additive manufacturing
systems require and combining them with breakthrough technology to establish a new
level of price and performance,” said Juan Mario Gomez, CEO of Xact Metal. “We’d like
manufacturers to experience the benefits of high-quality 3D metal printing at the best
price possible. Xact Metal aims to change the perception that additive manufacturing is
only for capital-rich companies.”
The company is on schedule to launch its first product this May, with shipments planned
for the third quarter of this year.
“We recognize the need for additive manufacturing to offer higher performance in a
sustainable way,” said Matt Woods, CTO of Xact Metal. “More than just spotting a market
gap, we are working on a new line of printers to allow more customers access to systems
without sacrificing performance.”
Xact Metal plans to unveil its first product at RAPID + TCT 2017 in Pittsburgh, Pa. May 8-
10 (booth 737); and will attend the Additive Manufacturing conference in Knoxville, Tenn.
Oct. 10-12; Formnext in Frankfurt, Germany Nov. 14-17; and the Defense Manufacturing
Conference in Tampa, Fla. Dec. 4-7.
Xact Metal has received funding from Ben Franklin Technology Partners, and is
headquartered at Penn State’s Innovation Park, home to some of the leading tech
companies in Pennsylvania. State College, Pennsylvania has been voted one of the top
10 best small towns to live and one of the top 10 places for start-up businesses in the
United States.
