An Evolutionary Leap in Structural Aluminum Systems!

Controlled Dynamics was formed with the goal of engineering a structural aluminum system to eliminate the re-alignment of assemblies and re-tightening of fasteners experienced with t-slot based systems subjected to dynamic environments.

The Vortex Connection® fastening system mechanically locks structures together to allow the full strength of profiles to be employed in designs while minimizing deformation of the assembly. Employing appropriately sized fasteners at an angle creates a spring-like effect. When combined with self-aligning components, the resulting joint has a ‘memory’ and precise alignment is maintained.

Overall project costs are usually lower than traditional t-slot systems.  Components are ordered in pre-assembled kits with all fasteners attached, making it quick and easy to assemble. Once finished, projects stay together with no ongoing maintenance issues.

    Company introduces the next evolution of structural aluminum systems


    Grafton, WI:  After six years of research and development, Controlled Dynamics announces the release of a new structural aluminum framing solution based on their patented Vortex Connection® fastening system. When combined with proprietary extruded aluminum profiles, the result is the first precision self-aligned, mechanically locked connection to resist all forms of dynamic loading. This is the first evolutionary leap away from traditional t-slot based aluminum framing systems since its inception in the early 1980’s.

    Some of the predominant benefits include:

    • Elimination of pivot points to allow use of maximum profile strength and resist system dynamics

  • Threaded Insert - Aluminum Structural Connections - Controlled Dynamics Inc.

    The Threaded Insert is a self-tapping fastening system allowing profiles to be connected while keeping the interior of a framed space clear of brackets.  It is primarily used for windows, doors, panels, and safety guarding in combination with plastic snap-in panel gasket material where the application calls for a captive panel material such as polycarbonate, wire mesh, or sheet steel.

    This innovative fastening method requires no special profile machining.  Simply drive the self-tapping insert into the end of a profile, feed the screw through the insert, and loosely thread a straight nut onto the end of the screw. Slide a mating profile onto the end of the nut and into your desired position and tighten.  When correctly assembled, the tip of the threaded insert should slightly embed into the mating profile - creating a strong joint that allows no movement and will not loosen over time.

    Controlled Dynamics’ hinges are constructed of all precision made components, allowing quick and effortless assembly while eliminating the possibilities of binding or sagging doors. The hinges are designed for extremely long wear, employing precision machined pins and bearings.  Individual sets are available in outside (on profile faces) or inside (between profiles) and left-hand or right-hand mountings to accommodate many designs including captive and lift-off configurations.
