    DTC Products’ Patented SlugKeeper Slug (Scrap) Retention Machine: See It at Booth #D40923

    DTC Products will exhibit its patented SlugKeeper Slug (Scrap) Retention Machine at FABTECH Chicago 2023. This portable machine puts SlugKeeper grooves into the die wall to prevent slugs (scrap) from pulling back onto the die block. The unique device uses a pneumatically powered grinder to precisely machine a small, angled groove into the side wall of the die cavity in a stamping die to prevent slugs (scrap) from pulling onto the die surface, where they can damage to the production strip, the stamped part, or the stamping die itself.

    DTC Products will exhibit its patented SlugKeeper Slug (Scrap) Retention Machine at FABTECH Chicago 2023. This portable machine puts SlugKeeper grooves into the die wall to prevent slugs (scrap) from pulling back onto the die block. The unique device uses a pneumatically powered grinder to precisely machine a small, angled groove into the side wall of the die cavity in a stamping die to prevent slugs (scrap) from pulling onto the die surface, where they can damage to the production strip, the stamped part, or the stamping die itself.

    DTC Products’ SlugKeeper machine has one thumb screw for quick adjustment of the grinder height, a plunger-style grinder head assembly, and a grinder head adjustable depth stop to control the grinder’s depth into the die cavity. Each of these features helps the operator quickly and more accurately position and control the grinder position.

    The grinder assembly is adjustable to three height positions — each half an inch apart, enabling it to work with a wider range of block thicknesses — and it features flex lights that the operator can position to see clearly into the cavity, providing better visual inspection of the work area when not using the new microscope and tablet system.

    The grooving wheels come in four diameters, in both borazon and diamond, to ensure the proper diameter groove is being placed into the side wall of the die surface of all materials. The micrometer adjustment accurately controls the depth into the side wall of the cavity. This allows the machine to be used for all types and thicknesses of material that are stamped in stamping dies. With the ability to adjust the angle (from 0 to 5 degrees) the grooves are placed at the precise angle to create the correct amount of interference, which keeps the slug (scrap) from pulling back on to the die surface during the stamping operation.
