The Benefits of CNC Routers in Fab Shops: Live Demos at FABTECH
Troutman North Carolina (8/13/2025) — C.R. Onsrud, a leading USA manufacturer of CNC machinery, will be demonstrating advanced CNC capabilities at FABTECH Expo (Booth A6131, Chicago, IL, Sept. 8–11), North America’s largest metal forming, fabricating, welding, and finishing event.
“We hope to reach fabricators who are struggling with the shortcomings of traditional fabrication equipment (i.e., plasma cutting, waterjet, and laser). Many don’t think of CNC routers for metals, so our demonstrations will show the value of using a CNC machine for producing high-speed, high-quality cuts and finishes in addition to their pocketing, chamfer, and threading capabilities,” said Jeff Onsrud, Director of Sales & Business Development.
The company is showcasing two machines: the 5-Axis EX-Series with a unique automated clamping system which provides effective hold-down for accurate machining of linear profile extrusions, explained Onsrud. The company is also showing the versatility of their M-Series, which will be processing plastic, aluminum sheet, as well as metal extrusions.
“There are a lot of benefits fabricators can gain with the right CNC machine,” said Onsrud. “Some may need long travel lengths for large materials or can gain from performing two completely different operations simultaneously, and some simply would like cleaner cuts — it’s a matter of us understanding what challenges they’re currently facing and where they’d like their business to grow.”
This is why FABTECH is very valuable. It gives the manufacturing community the opportunity to connect. “We get the chance to hear what people are struggling with and, in turn, engineer solutions,” said Onsrud.
