Bradbury celebrates 60 yearsThe Bradbury Co., Inc. was founded in 1959 by Floyd Bradbury and Jack Lacy as Roll Formed Products, Inc. They manufactured roll formed products and roller die tooling for customers involved in production roll forming. In 1964 Floyd renamed the company The Bradbury Co., Inc. and moved the company to an egg room of an old creamery building in Moundridge. It was in the creamery building that Floyd Bradbury designed the company’s first roll former to form awnings for a Hutchinson, KS, company. Today, you can find the first roll former on display in the Bradbury “Hall of Fame.”

In 1972 The Bradbury Co., Inc. purchased 12.5 acres of land at the south end of the Moundridge Industrial Park and Airport Complex. A 25,000 square foot building was built on the site. Currently, the Moundridge location serves as The Bradbury Group World headquarters with 350 employees and approximately 222,000 square feet of office and manufacturing space. Through acquisitions and partnerships, The Bradbury Group brings together manufacturers of related products from around the world; employing 665 people, utilizing 600,000 square feet of space in 10 manufacturing facilities around the world. We have a presence on 5 continents, in 9 time zones, with equipment operating in 89 countries.

Because of our innovative equipment concepts, The Bradbury Co., Inc. holds over 26 active U.S. patents, 8 patent-pending applications with the U.S. patent office, and 60 international patents. A few of our many equipment milestones include our first Double High® Roll Former in 1976, our first Telescoping Roll Former in 1984, our first BOSS™ Shear in 1996, our first QTR™ Roll Former which produced cee and zee purlins in a single roll space in 1999, our first Viper™ Track and Stud System in 2000, our first Roll Former using our patented Torque Vectoring® drive system to process up to 5/8” steel delivered in 2015, and our first purlin line utilizing artificial intelligence in 2017.

Today, the company offers highly engineered, custom equipment including complete roll forming production lines, precision levelers, coil processing production lines, equipment control solutions, and customized automated production systems. Industries served include metal buildings, insulated metal panels, garage doors, grain storage, steel framing, railcar production, HVAC, appliance, transportation, guardrail and highway safety, aircraft, and automotive to name a few.

For 60 years we have listened to and worked closely with our customers, designing and manufacturing advanced equipment that provides decades of high-quality part production. Staying in front of the innovation curve, Bradbury equipment continues to move the industries we serve forward. With our continued growth, we have not lost sight of our humble beginning; our expanding family owned business continues to be a family.

  • Bradbury's largest leveler series to date includes a heavy gauge eDrive® leveler (U.S. Patent #8893537) and production shear, capable of processing 1.0” thick by 120” wide hot rolled steel. The leveler has 8.5” diameter work rolls, two 250 Horsepower motors and can impart up to 8,200,000 lbs. of hydraulic leveling force to the material it processes. The shear is equipped with an automated cartridge blade change system which reduces the changeover time when shear blade sharpening is required. The cartridge can be extracted from the shear’s main frame in approximately three minutes. It requires the same amount of time to reinsert the cartridge making it ready for production. The heavy-duty machinery is controlled by an industrial touchscreen PC running proprietary software. The software is intuitive, allowing for saved setup parameters for future recall.

Bradbury Series of edrive levelersThe Bradbury Series of eDrive® levelers range from .015” (.38mm) to 1.0” (25mm) material capacity.

When combined with the Bradbury Flat Trak® CL (U.S. Patent #7185519) and the Bradbury Bow Scout® (U.S. Patent #9021844), Bradbury eDrive® levelers offer you the most advanced leveling system in the world.

    Did you know?

4 Mechanical Engineers, 1 Electrical Engineer, 3 Controls Engineers, and 1 Fluid Power Engineer, worked together to design the 1.0" leveler and shear.

The weight of the leveler is just over the weight of a Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

The machinery, weighing over half a million pounds, required 11 truckloads when shipped to its destination.

The driveway at the north end of our assembly facility was extended in order to allow access for a truck that was long enough to ship the leveler main frames.

The 8,200,000 lbs. of force is nearly equal to the total force of all the Space Shuttle’s rockets combined.

  • Athader Double Eccentric Slitter Heads
Athader’s double eccentric slitter head produces a clean strip edge with minimal penetration, enhancing the edge quality of cut strips and reducing wear on the slitter knives and motor....

  • Athader’s double eccentric slitter head features a larger arbor size than typical slitters and holds a consistent pass line creating an enhanced, clean cut in the strip.  Slitting with virtually zero penetration allows for superior edge quality, significant less strip deformation, reduced knife traction marks, and tighter slit width tolerances. This in turn prolongs the life of the knife and stripper ring, diminishes slitter induced camber, and lessens the wear on the machine – specifically the bearings, gear box and motor. The double eccentric slitter head produces virtually no rejects due to poor edge quality. A member of The Bradbury Group, Athader’s technologically advanced slitting lines offer precision automatic double eccentric slitter heads, automatic tension control, automatic coil loading and automatic tooling exchange systems.

With hundreds of lines worldwide, our customers recognize The Bradbury Group as a cutting-edge technology leader. We employ 650+ people, have 10 manufacturing facilities around the world, and engineering facilities in the United States, England, Australia, New Zealand, China, Canada, and Spain.  To learn more about our Coil Processing capabilities or find additional information about the companies within The Bradbury Group, our products and integrated manufacturing systems, visit , call 620.345.6394, or email Experience the advantages of The Bradbury Group.
