  • At this year's FABTECH (Booth #B37082), CENIT will be demonstrating an integrated solution for the automated use of welding information from design to the program, optimized for the robot system.

    "Increase your degree of automation and increase productivity," was the previous motto. True, but the productivity gained is lost again if, due to a lack of data continuity between departments, e.g. information already defined in design cannot be used in robot programming. This is particularly important in the case of design changes or when programming variants.

    The solution lies in the consistent digitalization of the entire process

    Normally, all weld seam information required for production is defined and stored in the CAD model in the design department using standard CAD systems, and the model becomes the 3D master for all subsequent processes.

    With FASTSUITE Edition 2, we enable you to automatically extract the digital weld seam information from the 3D model and use it directly in offline programming without loss. For this purpose, so-called process geometries are automatically generated from the weld seam information and the parameters required for the process are set automatically. Manual input is no longer necessary. This considerably reduces the programming effort while at the same time increasing the quality, since incorrect entries can be more or less excluded.

    By the intelligent use of the information available in design, product variants or construction changes can be implemented much faster and more efficiently. The digitized overall process is the key to a successful and sustainable increase in productivity.

    Offline Programming of robotic equipment: Synchronous Motion

    At this year’s FABTECH (Booth #B37082) CENIT will present the Synchronous robot team support, one of the newest modules of FASTSUITE Edition 2.

    Multi robot coordinated motion opens up a great amount of possibilities for the optimization that can be achieved using industrial robots, like using a 6 axis robot as a positioner and 6 axis robots to perform the process, sharing an external axis in between multiple robots, sharing a single load or tool via an offset TCP or simply to create safe an perfectly timed handshakes in between multiple robots.

    The increased complexity of the motion given by the number of axis and timings makes offline programing even more relevant for this type of processes. This tasks require the flexibility to combine different forms of coordination often within the same program, so the OLP software should flexible enough to simulate the complex handshakes and time synchronizations to ensure an accurate simulation.

    FASTSUITE Edition 2 enables the efficient and safe programming and simulation of cooperated robot teams, especially of robot cells where multiple robots are working simultaneously on workpieces that are dynamically moved by workpiece positioners. With this new function it is no longer necessary to manually synchronize and optimize the robot operations, and it also enables a realistic work cell setup with only one positioner definition for multiple robots, making previous workarounds obsolete.

    Some of the highlights offered by the new FASTSUITE functionalities:

    - Support of several work cell types and robot cell configurations

    - Up to 16 robots can be included and synchronized

    - Independent and individual programming of each robot

    - Special synchronization event to define handshakes where the robots will wait until a specific move is achieved by all units

    - Special synchronization event to define time start and end of time synchronization zones where the robots will perform identical motion times

    - Synchronization command to automatically define the external axes positions onto the programmed tool paths of the robots

    - Several cooperation modes are supported

  • Prima Power raises laser cutting processes to a new level

    Prima Power extends its software with the FASTSUITE Prima Power Edition developed by CENIT. The company, headquartered in Collegno, Italy, is a leading manufacturer of 2D and 3D laser cutting systems, and of machines and automatic manufacturing lines for sheet metal processing, and distributes the software worldwide with its 3D Prima Power laser machines.

    Prima Power maintains a long-standing, successful partnership with the IT consulting and software company CENIT in order to be able to offer a key solution for 3D systems. Since automation and robotics are becoming increasingly important, the company has decided to take a further step and will sell the new software edition itself in the future.

    Marco Pivanti, Prima Power 3D Laser Product Manager, is convinced of the advantages of the FASTSUITE Prima Power Edition: "With this new product our machines can show their full strength.
