 Press Releases

  • CS Unitec’s MAB 825 KTS portable magnetic drill features multi-axis positioning, allowing the drill to be adjusted up to 4-3/4” forward/backward and up to 4-3/8” left/right after the magnet is adhered to the surface. This versatile drill includes a chuck collet tool holder set to hold most standard end mills with shanks from 1/8” to 5/8” dia. (3mm to 16mm dia.). The MAB 825 KTS is ideal for job site drilling, boring and slotting applications where dismantling is not feasible.

With infinitely variable torque control and full-wave electronics, this heavy-duty drill cuts holes up to 3-1/8” dia. with annular cutters in structural steel and other metals. The servo-assisted drilling feature helps maintain feed pressure during operation. Additional capabilities include twist drilling up to 1-1/4” dia. and tapping up to 1-3/16” diameter. A stroke length of 10” makes the MAB 825 KTS ideal for steel engineering, plant construction and more. The 16 Amp, double-insulated, reversible motor has a 4-speed oil bath gearbox (40-110, 65-175, 140-360, 220-600 RPM) for applications requiring high power. An optional ¾” geared chuck is available (part no. IBC 21).

Safety features in the MAB 825 KTS include an Electronic Safety Shutoff Sensor to automatically shut down the drill motor if the magnet loses contact with the material. The magnet has a holding force of 6,600 lbs.

  • CS Unitec’s EKF 645 – a portable beveling machine for metal fabrication – cuts a beveled angle of 45˚ with a max bevel width of 9/16”. It is designed to bevel, deburr and chamfer thicker plates of steel, stainless steel, aluminum and other non-ferrous metals. A fine adjustment feature enables slight chamfers when deburring for the preparation of weld seams.

CS Unitec's Beveling Machine has a powerful 19.1 Amp motor with soft start and overload protection. Six (6) indexable carbide milling heads provide a cutting speed of 1200 to 1500 SFPM. Weighing 22.5 lbs., the EKF 645 is ideal for a wide variety of applications: steel fabricators, boilermakers and construction workers can prepare weld seams; mechanical engineers can deburr machine parts, create visible edges and chamfer edges to protect against paint peeling; and moldmakers can deburr contours and internal or external radii and countersink holes from 1-1/2" dia. An optional milling head is available to bevel 30˚ angles.

  • CS Unitec’s new PLANTEX® SUNFIRE™ CERAMIC dual-grain disc with 5/8”x11 hub that allows users to grind, blend and finish with only one disc. The disc’s 40/60 combination grit grinds like a 40, blends and finishes like a 60, saving considerable working time and extending its service life on all metals (including steel, stainless, titanium, aluminum and bronze). The SUNFIRE’s patented multigrain ceramic-hybrid grit structure provides aggressive material removal as well as controlled blending and finishing.

The disc’s ceramic-hybrid cloth flaps are adhered to a PLANTEX® hemp-based backing plate. The backing plate, composed of 70% natural hemp fiber, is stronger, more versatile and safer than traditional backing plates. SUNFIRE’s high-strength construction enables longer run times, while its flexible backing plate more easily conforms to the surface of the workpiece. Suitable for a wide variety of applications, including working in tight spaces, the disc is easily trimmable and can be used to the abrasive’s last fraction of an inch. Ultimately, the PLANTEX® SUNFIRE™ CERAMIC discs run safer – they are fiberglass-free and produce no harsh fumes, airborne fibers or sharp pieces.

Available in 4-1/2” and 5” diameters, each PLANTEX® SUNFIRE™ CERAMIC disc is capable of removing up to 9 lbs. of material.

For complete information on the PLANTEX® SUNFIRE™ CERAMIC disc, please contact CS Unitec by phone at (800) 700-5919, by fax at (203) 853-9921 or by email at info@csunitec.com. • CS Unitec’s Genuine Trelawny™ line of low-vibration needle scalers are safer for workers than traditional needle scalers. The Trelawny™ Vibro-Lo™ VL Series is designed for all surfaces – metal and masonry – to remove coatings and corrosion and clean other accumulated materials. The VL Series offers 8x less vibration than traditional needle scalers. The lower vibration reduces operator fatigue, increases efficiency and helps to prevent injury – including Hand-Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS). An optional dust shroud helps to protect workers from potentially hazardous dust and maintain a clean working environment when the tool is attached to a vacuum (and appropriate personal PPE is utilized).

The VL needle scalers are lightweight, easy-to-handle pneumatic units that provide up to 3000 blows per minute. They are ideal for irregular surfaces that are otherwise difficult to prepare. Other applications include cleaning and stress relieving weld seams and steel joints. The tools can be converted to chisel scalers for splitting, chipping and pointing applications. The Vibro-Lo™ VL Series includes both pistol grip and inline handle designs. The VL203 and VL303 are designed with a pistol grip handle and have 19 and 28 needles, respectively. Model VL223 has an inline handle and is equipped with 19 needles.

Changing needles is quick and easy, requiring no additional tools. Needle variations include chisel or flat tips for light surface marking and pointed tips for very hard scale removal. Non-sparking Copper Beryllium needles are available for use in potentially hazardous environments. Stainless steel needles are offered for applications where corrosion or humidity presents a problem. The scalers operate at a max. of 5.5 CFM air consumption with vibration levels up to 2.75 m/s2.
