  • Auburn Hills, Michigan – Marposs will highlight its new Mida Diamond line of high precision machine tool touch probes and tool setters at WESTEC. The Mida Diamond line has been developed to assist in controlling the entire production process in all its phases: from work-piece set-up and inspection, to tool pre-setting and control. The high precision products address industries that require high accuracy controls on very complex surfaces such as aerospace, biomedical and dental, mold and die production, and micro-manufacturing applications.

    Mida Diamond Touch Probes for part checks guarantee exceptional measuring performance thanks to piezoelectric technology. The probes are available with various transmission methods including wired transmission, optical transmission and radio transmission.

    The Mida Diamond Visual Tool Setter (VTS) for tool checking implements a vision technology using a video camera to detect tool dimensions, in particular those of micro-tools, and for complex measurements. VTS can be used together with dedicated measuring software, for checking a wide range of tools, guaranteeing repeatability of less than 1µm.

  • Auburn Hills, Michigan, July 23, 2019– Marposs, a world leader in measurement and process monitoring technologies, will highlight its Genior Modular VM-03 intelligent, module-based system for Machine Monitoring of a wide range of functions at WESTEC in booth #1836. The VM-03 provides predictive maintenance via vibration, gravity and temperature monitoring, condition monitoring, dynamic collision and crash detection and simple process monitoring. It can easily be integrated into machine tools, equipment or robots as well as with the Genior Modular Tool and Process Monitoring solution

    Bearing failures are responsible for 85 percent of spindle damages and 40 percent of bearing damages are due to collisions. Indications that there may be damages to the spindle can be recognized through a reduction of workpiece quality, an increase in bearing temperature, and through vibrations caused by bearing fatigue and raceway damage. The VM-03 aids in avoiding these issues by providing machine protection through detection of overload and potential crash; process monitoring to optimize cutting process parameters; and machine condition monitoring through predictive maintenance.

    The VM-03 provides alarm output for acceleration in the form of warning, soft stop or hard stop; a temperature warning and a gravity value warning with registration of alarms occurring within + 5 seconds of an event occurrence. All of this event data is recorded, illustrating operational processes and revealing any anomalies. For OEMs, access to this level of data can help protect from potential warranty claims.

    The Genior system is a comprehensive, fully automatic solution with multi-sensor and multi-screen visualization capability to effectively monitor the machine, spindles, axis, and the tool to optimize the cutting process.

  • GEMCMS02 is a highly effective tool for minimizing collision damage. GEMCMS02 reduces the crash detection time to less than 1 millisecond. With the help of the GEMCMS02, valuable time is gained and damages are non-existent or minimized. With the help of a special sensor, the slightest µ-range deformations inside the structure of the machine which are caused by the forces acting upon the spindle resp. axes. With the GEMCMS02, it not only detects hard hits but also non-impact collisions at lower speed; depending on system adjustments.

    The GEMCMS02 provides 3 different operation modes with 3 different static limits per mode for warning, soft stop and hard stop. All events trespassing pre-fixed hard stop limits are recorded in a log-file for later analysis (collision table). Critical process sequences can be recorded and analyzed in detail afterwards.

  • Marposs' acoustic sensors are one of the many solutions used to monitor grinding machines. They check the noise issued at the point where the part or dresser touches the grinding wheel. The noise is generated during the cutting action and is transmitted as ultrasound waves. Monitoring these waves, any changes during machining can be checked and corrective actions can be implemented.
