 Press Releases

  • Bonita Springs, Florida – Oct. 12, 2021: ADDMAN Engineering, a leader in additive manufacturing and custom tooling solutions is pleased to announce the purchase of a second VELO3D Sapphire System. This acquisition will allow ADDMAN Engineering to offer even more comprehensive end-to-end manufacturing solutions at our Indianapolis facility. Like the first Sapphire System, we purchased in May, this unit will be primarily used to produce Inconel 718 parts for aerospace clients.

The VELO3D Sapphire Series of 3D printers form part of an integrated production system that features Flow™ intelligent design software and Assure™ quality assurance and control monitoring. This revolutionary printer can create parts with geometries that would have been considered impossible just a few years ago, which allows designers to build the components they want without making compromises. This purchase is one more example of ADDMAN Engineering’s commitment to remain at the forefront of additive manufacturing solutions by investing in the latest and most capable technology.

The Sapphire System will be used primarily to improve the range of services ADDMAN Engineering offers to clients in the aerospace sector as it can produce a class of parts that conventional additive manufacturing systems are not capable of creating. The VELO3D technology will increase ADDMAN Engineering’s production capacity at its Bonita Springs facility while improving quality control. Bob Markley, who is one of the original founders of 3rd Dimension as well as an executive vice president at ADDMAN Engineering, said the purchase of the Sapphire System shows that the company is committed to “pushing the boundaries of possibility.”

ADDMAN Engineering has ordered additional VELO3D systems for delivery in 2022. The two XC systems on order will complement the four existing Additive Industries MetalFAB1 printers at our Indianapolis production facility to offer new manufacturing capabilities along with improvements in capacity and efficiency. ADDMAN Engineering’s Bonita Springs facility will remain its innovation center. The facility improves value, produces large format tolling parts and keeps lead times to a minimum with a fleet of FDM and SLA machines.
