The International Center for Language Studies was founded in 1966 in Washington, DC as a language school dedicated to providing language services in English as a Second Language and over 85 foreign languages. ICLS is licensed by the Higher Education Licensure Commission of the District of Columbia, and is accredited by the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation (CEA) and the International Association of Language Centres (IALC). ICLS offers student-centered language programs that develop authentic target language use, focus on individual goals, and enable students to be successful in a global environment. ICLS teachers have trained thousands of students from agencies and organizations such as the Defense Language Institute (DLI), the Foreign Service Institute (FSI), the Department of State,, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the Defense Intelligence Agency, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Drug Enforcement Agency, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank. We also offer intern and trainee programs through our WIN in the USA program and have a robust distance learning program.
