The Language Program Office at the University of Wisconsin-Madison hosts renowned institutes and programs for teaching and learning Less Commonly Taught Languages. We host several great language learning programs that focus on LCTLs. The Wisconsin Summer Language Institutes (WISLI) which offer over thirty different languages to learn in an intensive eight-week format every summer in the beautiful city of Madison, Wisconsin. We also host Regional Flagship Language Initiatives for Hindi-Urdu, Indonesian, and Turkish which combines our WISLI summer of study in Madison with a Fall semester of language training abroad in India, Indonesia, and Azerbaijan, respectively. We also host the American Institute of Pakistan Studies, which offers funding and programming for scholars and students of Pakistan and Urdu.
