The Department of Education established the Language Resource Centers (LRCs) in response to the growing national need for expertise and competence in foreign languages in K-16. Sixteen LRCs have created a national network of resources to promote and improve the teaching/learning of languages. LRCs create materials, offer professional development opportunities for instructors, conduct and disseminate research on foreign language learning.
