The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) is the primary federal agency for improving health care to people who are geographically isolated, or economically and medically vulnerable. We offer scholarship, loan, and loan repayment programs that help communities recruit and retain primary health care providers. We also help connect skilled health professionals to communities in need with free resources like the Health Workforce Connector and Virtual Job Fairs.   Within HRSA, the National Practitioner Data Bank (NPDB) assists in promoting quality health care and deterring fraud and abuse in our country’s health care systems. The NPDB is a workforce tool and database created by Congress in 1986 to enable health care organizations to share information with one another and make well-informed hiring, credentialing, privileging, and licensing decisions.
