See world's first park bench made with recycled carbon fiber

The Composite Recycling Technology Center (CRTC) was established in 2015 as a non-profit organization in Port Angeles, Washington. Our mission is to inspire and grow the global composite recycing community through innovation in technology and manufacturing, that transforms carbon fiber scrap into products that positively impact people's lives and our environment.

We design, develop and manufacture useful products that utilize carbon fiber composite scrap, which is becoming a growing concern worldwide. Over 2 million pounds of aerospace grade carbon fiber waste is landfilled just in Washington State alone. Seeking to provide a solution, the CRTC is the first facility in the world to recycle this high strength material into new innovations, diverting tons of carbon fiber scrap waste from landfills. In addition, CRTC provides hands-on workforce training in partnership with Peninsula College's Advanced Manufacturing Composites Technology program.

From pickleball paddles and nets to public benches, check out how the Composite Recycling Technology Center is creating sustainable durable products at www.crtc-wa.org.

  • Olympus Bench displayed at the 2018 ASLA Expo

    October 20th and 21st 2018

The Composite Recycling Technology Center (CRTC) invites industry representatives and the public to visit our exhibit booth at the 2018 American Society of Landscape Architects Annual Meeting and Expo in Philadelphia, PA. We will be displaying the world’s first bench made with recycled aerospace grade carbon fiber – a one of a kind innovation! Ideal for parks and public spaces, the attractive Olympus Bench is a durable and environmentally mindful feature that helps divert tons of scrap waste material from landfills. Attendees can try out the new bench and discover how carbon fiber is much stronger than steel, yet at only one third the weight and lighter than aluminum, resulting in reduced shipping costs and installation efforts. With an exceptional resistance to UV, heat, termites, rot, corrosion and saltwater impacts, the sustainable Olympus Bench has an advantage over traditional wood, metal, or even plastic benches. The CRTC offers our customers a special distinction to be able to customize the bench color, logo branding, and personalize the built in commemorative ceramic plaque with the text and graphics of their choice.

Stop by booth # 2251 on October 20th and 21st to meet CEO Dave Walter and see how any space can be elevated with the recycled carbon fiber innovation Olympus Bench!
