  • For those interested in being in pursuit of one of the most elusive cats in Africa.

The leopard is pound for pound the most dangerous animal in the world when wounded. Respect must be given when hunting these incredible, magnificent creatures. Elusive and dangerous are the first thoughts any hunter should have when leopard hunting.

They can see 7 times better in the dark than humans. Like most animals the pupil of a leopards eye constricts or dilates according to the amount of light that enters their eyes. Because of their adapted retinas, leopards are exceptional nocturnal hunters. Leopards run more than 60km/h for short distances, leap more than 6 meters horizontally and 3 meters vertically. You can expect many nights in the blind when hunting these elusive and cunning creatures.

Our Nhenda camp is based on the banks of the Cahora Bassa Dam in the Tete province of Mozambique. The area covers 1 000 000 acres of wild free roaming land that borders the dam for 60 miles. The habitat consists mostly of mountains with thick bush, cut through by many dry river beds. This is a true unspoilt wilderness boasting unbelievable sunsets over the lake.

Our area is well known in the hunting community for some of the largest crocodiles in Africa. the average size of crocodiles here are 14 feet and some even stretching the tape to 17,5 feet. The area is also home to a very healthy population of leopard, each year we have the privilege of hunting giant Tom’s.

The camp is on the northern side of the dam and boasts five en-suite chalets, hot and cold water, solar power, comfortable beds and a fully stocked bush bar alongside our camp fire area which looks over the dam where our clients can enjoy a drink after a day on the lake.
