After a forty two year career of painting wildlife art, Greg Beecham is no less passionate to learn and grow as an artist than he was that first full-time day in the late summer of 1978. He struggled for many years to define his vision and improve his technical skills. Forced to slow down and ponder life and work as he lay in a hospital bed for three days in 2013, he asked himself a simple question, "Who am I?" In other words, "What am I trying to say as an artist and how do I go about saying it?"

A primarily self-taught artist, Mopho creates carvings of Africa’s wild animals in the unique medium of leadwood. Born and raised in Zimbabwe, Mopho Gonde is now hailed as the finest wildlife sculptor in southern Africa utilizing leadwood. “The greatest thing about leadwood is that the hardwood trees need not be destroyed. This medium comes from dead trees, once pushed over by great elephants, which have laid in the African sun and rain for years and have almost become petrified”.

Born in Rotterdam, Holland Loet Vanderveen's childhood home was close to the zoo. It was during this period in life that he developed his love for animals. At night he would listen to the sound of the animals in the zoo, and fantasize about African safaris... fantasies which were eventually realized.

Jaco van Schalkwk was born in 1981 in Benoli, South Africa and received a degree in Historical Studies from the University of South Africa. He still resides in Africa as he feels it is paramount in creating authentic works of wildlife art.  Although his technique is predominantly “old master” style he also likes to sometimes work in slightly loose brush strokes.

Born in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1978, and after immigrating to Zimbabwe in 2008, the vastness of ‘Real Africa’ and its incredible beauty resonated with my love for nature and living wild. I quickly became bound to this immense, fragile, unyielding and sometimes savage country. In 2014, driven by a desire to create beauty from thrown away objects, I became interested in carving domestic cow skulls. My interest was multifaceted – An appreciation of the exquisite craftsmanship of nature, from the pattern on a daisy flower to the sculpture of bone beneath flesh. Our fear of impermanence, and the transient quality of life. An honouring of nature, and the natural cycle we are all governed by in life. Each piece is unique.

Jean Abrie lives in South Africa, where he draws his inspiration from nature, animals and people on the ever changing continent of Africa. He spends much of his time exploring the wilderness areas of Southern Africa he has known since early childhood. It is here where his love for nature later developed into a career in wildlife art.
