Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey honors the world’s first-known African American master distiller, Nearest Green. It was the first spirits brand in the world to be named after a Black American and is the fastest-growing American whiskey brand in U.S. history. The portfolio is the Most Awarded Bourbon or American Whiskey of 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022. The brand launched in 2017 and swiftly rolled out to all 50 states throughout the U.S., the District of Columbia, and abroad.

Nearest Green, affectionately nicknamed Uncle Nearest by his friends and family in Lynchburg, Tennessee is credited with helping perfect the globally recognized Lincoln County Process, which is the defining distinction between Kentucky Bourbon and Tennessee Whiskey. This unique filtering of whiskey through sugar maple charcoal was named after the county where Nearest lived and made his highly regarded Bourbon.

    • Uncle Nearest 1884 Small Batch Whisky is a mash bill consisting of 80% corn, with the remaining 20% split between rye and barley.

    • After distillation, the whiskey is filtered using the Lincoln County Process, which Nearest Green is credited with helping to perfect.

    • It is aged a minimum of four years in new, level #4 charred American oak barrels and bottled at 93-proof.

    • 1884 Small Batch presents with a lively nose of honey, warm brown sugar, cedar, orange peel, tobacco flower, ground ginger and white pepper. On the palate, it warms, showing caramel balanced with spicy wood tannins, with notes of baking chocolate, cigar leaf, nougat and cinnamon. The finish is long and smooth. The cinnamon lingers with dark chocolate, oak tannins and maple syrup. A fantastic sipper, yet versatile enough for all your favorite cocktails.

    • Uncle Nearest 1856 uses a blend of up to four different mash bills, ranging from 70% – 84% corn, with the balance consisting of rye and barley.

    • After distillation, the whiskey is filtered using the Lincoln County Process, which Nearest Green is credited with helping to perfect.

    • It is aged a minimum of four years in new, level #4 charred American oak barrels and bottled at 100-proof.

    • A complex nose of maple, vanilla, cherries, black pepper, almond cookies, dried straw, and coconut pudding. The palate is pleasantly spicy, complemented by notes of caramel and brown sugar, marzipan, chocolate covered cherries and creme brulée with a touch of coconut. The finish is long and rich, with a lingering flavor of spiced honey. Due to the blending of different mash bills in this expression to consistently produce the most delicious whiskey, there will be slight variation in the flavor profile of Uncle Nearest 1856 from batch to batch.

    • Uncle Nearest Straight Rye Whiskey is made with a mash bill of 100-percent rye.

    • It is matured for at least four years in new, charred American oak barrels and undergoes a

      second maturation in used Uncle Nearest barrels before being bottled at 100-proof.

    • The nose is bold and decadent with notes of praline, nutmeg and white pepper. The palate is brimming with light vanilla cream, caramelized sugar and the unmistakable spice of rye. The finish is long, rich and well-balanced.

    • Due to the well-documented challenges of growing rye in Tennessee, we went out to find the best straight rye and brought it back home to rest in used Uncle Nearest barrels. This whiskey is produced in Canada, to strict American Straight Rye Whiskey specifications, and aged in New York, before being brought to Tennessee for secondary maturation, filtration, and bottling.
