SciAps manufactures a breakthrough handheld alloy analyzer for Positive Materials Identification (PMI). It utilizes laser-based technology (Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy), instead of x-rays or spark, and therefore can measure virtually every element in the periodic table --- from lithium to lead. For the first time, operators can also identify carbon content along with many other elements, to analyze low-alloy steels in addition to the traditional high temperature alloys. The SciAps analyzer uses an eye-safe laser technology, therefore eliminating the need for x-ray registration.
