    Allied Machine and Engineering

Allied Machine and Engineering, a leading manufacturer of holemaking and finishing cutting tools for the metal-cutting industry, announces the addition of 10xD APX drill bodies for 76, 83, 89 and 95 series. This addition covers a diameter range of 2.9918 inches to 4.0000 inches (76.00 millimeters - 101.60 millimeters). Offering these 10xD bodies as a standard product allows customers to extend their drilling capabilities beyond the previous standard product offering of 8xD.

With the strength and versatility that the APX drill provides, these additional drill bodies can be used for any application requiring large diameters with deep holes; however, the 10xD length holders are an ideal solution for the oil and gas industry in components such as frac blocks.

Not only does the APX drill, which is designed to increase penetration rates and tool life, provide the lowest cost per hole among deep hole drilling lines, but this addition gives customers an on-the-shelf solution at larger diameters and longer depths—a solution that is often a special for other manufacturers.

Allied Machine and Engineering, a leading manufacturer of holemaking and finishing cutting tools for the metal-cutting industry, announces the expansion of ALVAN reaming products by SCAMI with the 5000 series and 9000 series reamers. These replaceable head reamers offer a solution for high-production environments, industries such as automotive, heavy equipment, agriculture, firearms, and hydraulics, where tight tolerances and extreme surface finishes are required. With carbide and cermet grades as well as multiple coatings and geometries, these two series of ALVAN reamers are ideal for applications in all materials.

The 9000 series ALVAN reamers are ideal for extremely high-production hole finishing applications where optimal surface finish, tool life and penetration rates are required. The quick-change (throw away) design provides reduced downtime for assembling and indexing new heads. Other features of the 9000 series include:
    • Diameter range: 11.80 millimeters – 40.60 millimeters.
    • Capable of H7 hole tolerances.
    • Available with modular and cylindrical shanks—short and long length.
    • Sintered carbide/cermet design allows for potential increased tool life/penetration rates.
    • Heads are finish ground to the desired diameter at SCAMI.
    • Quick-change connection between the head and mandrel for reduced machine downtime in high-production settings.
The 5000 series ALVAN reamers excel in applications with holes requiring extremely tight tolerances where minimizing operator intervention is critical. Setting up reamers and achieving optimal results often requires a high level of operator skill level, but with the 5000 series, the diameter setting is done by SCAMI prior to shipment, making it ready to use as soon as it is received. It also allows for quicker tool changes when the head is worn and needs to be replaced with a new one. Other features of the 5000 series include:
    • Diameter range: 9.60 millimeters – 32.60 millimeters.
    • Expandable diameter capabilities for wear compensation.
    • Available with modular and cylindrical shanks—short and long length.
    • Highly repeatable twist-locking design of the head onto the mandrel for reduced machine downtime between head changes.
    • Excellent TIR repeatability from head-to-head changes.
Natalie Givler, product manager of the hole finishing product lines at Allied Machine shares that “With high-production tools like reamers, minimizing machine downtime is critical. These additional ALVAN reaming products by SCAMI provide an easy-to-use assembly method, which simplifies the setup process and lowers the risk of scrapped parts.”

Allied Machine and Engineering, a leading manufacturer of holemaking and finishing cutting tools for the metal-cutting industry, adds to their product offering with the release of T-A Pro kits—a foundational cutting tool solution for a wide range of hole sizes.

The holder kits, which are available in 3xD and 5xD as well as flat and cylindrical shanks, allow customers to drill anything from 0.4999 inches – 1.3797 inches (12.70 millimeters – 35.04 millimeters). With each insert kit including 12 commonly used diameters, users also have the opportunity to select an ISO-specific option that best meets their needs. From a carbide insert with a more universal geometry to a general-purpose insert that tackles a range of materials, the insert kits are available in ISO P, K, N, M and X (HSS substrate).

Ultimately, T-A Pro kits provide customers with a high performance drilling solution that combines exceptional penetration capabilities and versatility across a wide range of sizes, delivering efficiency and value for a variety of applications. For small to mid-size shops, these kits act as the perfect introduction to the T-A Pro product line while offering a solution to drill a range of common industry diameters. Additionally, T-A Pro kits are ideal for customers who have recently purchased a CNC machine as the kits are a ready-to-use solution that maximizes their investment as soon as the machine hits the floor.

As a starting point for a variety of application needs, T-A Pro kits build a great foundation for users. Because T-A Pro has a full diameter range of 0.3739 inches – 1.8820 inches (9.50 millimeters – 47.80 millimeters), users can expand into smaller or larger diameters as well as depths from stub to 15xD.
