 Press Releases

  • As manufacturers work to maintain productivity and output amid the ongoing labor crisis, they continue to look for ways to improve work speed and accuracy. With custom masking solutions available from Caplugs, manufacturers can get custom die-cut tapes that are designed for specific applications.

Die-cuts are extremely effective when masking a flat surface and can be used in a variety of applications, with specialty materials available that offer improved resistance to abrasion or extreme temperatures. Easy to use, die-cuts can be quickly applied and cleanly removed without tearing or leaving adhesive residue. Options like pull-tabs are also available to help make removal easier and more consistent.

“Custom die-cut tapes are some of our most popular masking solutions,” said Vimal Venugopalan, Director of Industrial Business Development for Caplugs. “Die-cuts can be made quickly and affordably and can eliminate hours of labor and reduce injury risk from hand cutting straight tapes. They also provide consistency in masking, limiting failure rates and further saving manufacturers time and money.”

Caplugs offers a selection of common die-cut shapes in a range of size options, including circular, square and rectangular tapes. Custom designs can accommodate more specific or complex geometries. In-house die-cutting ensures a quick turnaround and economical pricing.

As the leader in product protection, molded components and masking for over 70 years, Caplugs provides the broadest range of solutions, highest quality and most responsive service in the industry. The company’s experienced team of design engineers specializes in working with customers to develop custom solutions, ensuring a smooth transition from concept and design through full production.

  • Protect the threading of weld nuts throughout finishing operations with the WNP-SH Series plugs available now from Caplugs.

This purpose-built protection series is specifically designed to easily mask weld nuts. These plugs feature a plunger handle that can easily be pulled through the nut. The two flanged surfaces located at the middle of the plug mask both the threaded hole and faces of the first and last thread of the nut itself.

Designed for use with powder coating, e-coating, plating and anodizing work, the silicone plugs are recommended for use with temperatures up to 600°F (315°C). With different colors for each size, ranging from M6 to M16 threading, Caplugs makes it easy to select the correct plug when using multiple thread sizes. The weld nut pull plugs are also reusable, allowing operators to extend the usable life of each plug.

In addition to the WNP-SH Series, Caplugs offers an extensive catalog of rubber parts and other protective components to meet customers’ needs in all markets and applications.

  • Caplugs is expanding its range of masking solutions with the introduction of new clear options for several popular tapes and die-cuts.

Fully transparent masking is the perfect solution for finishing operations that include parts with labels, UPCs, serial numbers or other identifying marks. Masking protects marks or tracking information from being powder coated, painted or otherwise impacted by finishing work, while allowing operators to easily read or scan labels.

“We heard from customers that a fully transparent tape would improve tracking and product management throughout the masking process,” said Derek Stefaniak, Product Marketing Manager at Caplugs. “By making this option available on some of our most popular series, we’ve made it easy for customers to transition to clear masking with the same shapes and sizes they’re already using. We also have the ability to customize label masks and include a tab for easy removal at the end of the process.”

Clear masking is available as an option for the PC-SH Series of polyester discs, squares, rectangles and donuts, as well as the PC21-SH Series polyester tape rolls. The new transparent option continues to offer the same heat resistance up to 400°F (204°C) and strong silicone adhesive that leaves no residue behind. In addition, customers are able to order these masking tapes with custom pull-tabs for simple and fast removal.
