These formed bushings generally triple the material thickness providing more wall surface that can be tapped to avoid the use of welded nuts or inserts. Typical cost for these formed inserts is about 1 cent (US). This 1 cent cost is to be compared to the cost of a threaded insert or a nut to be welded.
