Ultrasonic Additive Manufacturing (UAM) is a revolutionary process technology that uses sound to merge thin layers of metal. The process produces true metallurgical bonds with full density in metals as varied as aluminum, copper, stainless steel, and titanium. UAM enables you to… Make parts with multiple metals The solid state nature of the UAM bond allows for welding of dissimilar metals without forming brittle intermetallic as in a fusion welding process. Embed Wires or Sensors in Metal UAM makes embedding reinforcing members such as carbide fibers, stainless steel meshes, or even shape memory alloys simple. Structural components can be manufactured as a metal matrix, to form superior, high-performance composite structures. Produce Complex Shapes In combining additive and subtractive process capabilities, UAM can create components with deep slots, hollow, latticed, or honeycombed internal structures, and other complex geometries impossible through conventional manufacturing processes.

FABRISONIC INTRODUCES SONICLAYER® 1600, NEWEST MACHINE TO THEIR 3D METAL PRINTING FAMILY

Lewis Center, Ohio, USA, April 14, 2023 – Fabrisonic LLC, the leading parts and machine manufacturer in Ultrasonic Additive Manufacturing (UAM) 3D printing, announces the release of the SonicLayer® 1600. The SonicLayer® 1600 is a hybrid manufacturing and fabrication platform that hosts additive and subtractive 3D metal printing processes. The SonicLayer® 1600 features a build envelope of 14.5” x 14.5” x 17”, a high-powered 9 kW head on a medium-sized CNC milling center frame.

“The SonicLayer® 1600 is an all-purpose tool that is both affordable and versatile,” states Mark Norfolk, Fabrisonic President & CEO. “This platform is in response to a large customer demand, and we are very pleased with the enthusiastic response.”

The SonicLayer® 1600 is the ideal fabrication platform for manufacturing operations that require the production of products and devices that involve printing dissimilar metals, embedding sensors or creating smooth, complex internal pathways and geometries – or all three. The SonicLayer® 1600 brings a level of capability to a mid-sized CNC /milling platform that can be found nowhere else.

    About Fabrisonic

Fabrisonic LLC is an innovative manufacturing technology company that provides 3D metal printing services in a wide range of metals through low‐temperature, Ultrasonic Additive Manufacturing technology. The company utilizes a unique 3D metal printing process that harnesses sound waves to merge layers of metal foil in a process that requires no melting. Building in the solid-state enables Fabrisonic to join dissimilar metals to create new materials, have parts with complex internal geometry and embed sensors or electronics into fully dense metal parts that can be protected from the harsh environments being assessed. The 3D metal printing process is used by a variety of industries to create complex components with distinctive features and attributes not possible with traditional manufacturing techniques.
