GROB, one of the world's leading system manufacturers for electromobility and machining technology, is taking part in Rapid + TCT in LA for the first time. Just over two years ago, the company revolutionized metal 3D printing with its GMP300. GROB's liquid metal printing process uses aluminum wire to produce near-net-shape components without the need for mechanical separation from the build plate or thermal post-treatment of the components. The wire is melted and printed onto a heated build plate. A few of the many advantages are the very fast component build-up (320 cm³ per hour) and the fact that a wide range of aluminum alloys (pure aluminum, high-strength alloys) can be used without the use of powder. In April, GROB presented the new generation of the GMP300 with even more robust process and improved machine features for the first time at its Open House at its headquarters in Mindelheim, Germany.
