The West Virginia University Department of Emergency Medicine maintains a thriving clinical practice — including WVU Medicine J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, Level I trauma and tertiary-care referral center.
We provide world class acute care to over 400,000 patients annually at our clinical sites throughout the state of West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. We are a group of Physicians and Advance Practice Providers providing high-quality emergency care to our patients in West Virginia and surrounding states.
With our roots in an academic tertiary care hospital, the experience of caring for patients in all environments, and the backing of a health system with hospitals of varying size, we have the ability to staff emergency departments throughout the region with Physicians who are board-certified and residency-trained in emergency medicine, or otherwise have significant long-term emergency department experience. This allows us to and provide the same high quality emergency care in all the departments we staff, and thus decreases the health care disparities in varying areas of our region.
