In Their Own Words: Teeshla Curtis
In May 2018, Teeshla Curtis went to multiple urgent care practices after feeling prolonged discomfort. After being referred to a hospital and receiving surgery, she learned that she had stage four colon cancer. Teeshla, a Program Manager with the My Life My Choices Advance Care Planning Initiative, was now facing serious illness in her own life.
Ever since, she has been navigating this process with her husband Allen and their three children. In this video, they tell the story of their experience, facing Teeshla's serious illness while also supporting their adopted children who were originally from India and were adjusting to living in the United States. Teeshla shares how her family, friends and church have been by her side during this extremely difficult time.
