Ross University School of Medicine has been providing students with the foundation they need to pursue successful careers in medicine across North America and beyond since 1978. The school is focused on empowering students to achieve their goals, find success, and make inspiring contributions to our global community. There are over 15,000 alumni practicing worldwide. Students complete their foundational studies in Barbados before completing their clinical training in the United States at one or several affiliated hospitals. Ross is accredited by the Caribbean Accreditation Authority for Education in Medicine and Other Health Professions (CAAM-HP www.caam-hp-org). We strive for equity in healthcare, empower each other to serve our community with an ethical and humanistic perspective, champion a diverse and collaborative learning environment  with a global outlook, provide opportunities for exceptional health career outcome, and foster professional and personal growth, perseverance, and resilience.

We understand that choosing a medical school is one of the most important decisions you will make in your life. Medical school is the foundation upon which your life’s work will be built. RUSM takes a comprehensive approach to applying to medical school, which means we look at every prospective student’s entire achievement history. RUSM's medical school admissions requirements include factors such as undergraduate performance, knowledge of the medical profession, interpersonal skills, motivation, personal character, and clinical experience. While GPA and MCAT scores are also considered, they are not used as a cutoff. This approach has given thousands of our students a chance they may have not found elsewhere.

The Ross University School of Medicine curriculum is designed to enable students to acquire and master basic sciences concepts and prepare to integrate knowledge of these concepts into clinical care. The philosophy behind this approach is to prepare medical school graduates to thrive in the fast-paced, ever-changing world of practicing medicine. RUSM offers two tracks in the Medical Sciences Program: a four-semester accelerated track and a five-semester track. These curriculum options are designed to further cultivate student success and empower you to advance through Medical Sciences at a pace that aligns with your personal study needs.

RossMed students can complete the clinical portion of the curriculum—and most of their training—in the United States at leading teaching hospitals across the country during years 3 and 4 of the program. During these years, students will also prepare and take the United States Medical License Exams (USMLE) Step 1 and Step 2. Because our students are given hands-on experience from semester one, they transition into the med school clinical rotations with confidence and the tools they need to succeed.

Reach out to us when you’re ready, we’ll be with you, every step of the way.

  • RUSM 360 IMMERSIVE TOUR

Our campus is designed to provide a contemporary learning environment that will prepare today’s medical students to meet the complex needs of their future patients.

Throughout the Medical Sciences curriculum, students are exposed to a wide variety of active learning experiences that are closely tied to their traditional lecture and case-based learning in both timing and context. These experiences include clinical skills training, standardized patient cases, small-group learning, and other clinically relevant activities. This approach helps students begin to think like physicians early in their medical school experience, and better prepares them for their medical licensing exams.
