Within HRSA, the National Practitioner Data Bank (NPDB) assists in promoting quality health care and deterring fraud and abuse in our country’s health care systems. The NPDB is a workforce tool and database created by Congress in 1986 to enable health care organizations to share information with one another and make well-informed hiring, credentialing, privileging, and licensing decisions.
