DTC Products will exhibit its SlugKeeper Retention Machine.

DTC Products’ patented SlugKeeper Slug Retention Machine will stops slug(scrap) from pulling in stamping dies. The unique device uses a pneumatically powered grinder to precisely machine a small, angled groove into the sidewall of the die cavity in a stamping die to prevent slugs from pulling onto the die surface where they can damage the production strip, the stamped part, or the stamping die itself. It has one thumb screw for quick adjustment of the grinder height.

The grinder assembly is adjustable to three height positions, each half an inch apart, enabling it to work with a wider range of block thicknesses, and it features flex lights that the operator can position to see clearly into the cavity. The new monitor and miscroscope system allows you to see into the smallest of openings while putting in the SlugKeeper grooves, giving you an even more precise groove.

The grooving wheels come in four diameters, in both borazon and diamond grit. The micrometer adjustment allows the machine to be used for all types and thicknesses of material stamped in stamping dies.

  • The patented SlugKeeper Slug Retention Machine is the only portable product that can be used to put slug retention grooves into die cavities to stop slugs (scrap) from pulling out a die cavity onto the die surface where it will cause damage to the stamping strip and part. A slug (scrap) on the die surface can also cause expensive damage to the die details. The SlugKeeper machine is needed in every stamping plant and die-building plant to stop slugs (scrap) from pulling out of all shapes of die cavities during the stamping process. Stamping companies lose thousands of dollars a month by scraping parts due to slug marks, and even more, when you take into the cost of the press time it took to make those damaged parts and the costly die repairs due to the slug (scrap) ending up on the die surface. Get ahead of your competition by purchasing your SlugKeeper today.
