UK shotgun manufacturers, Longthorne Gunmakers, renowned for their shotgun barrels which are fully machined, sculptured even, from a single piece of high specification steel, have recently launched their latest creation, a set of barrels fully sculptured from titanium, not the easiest substance to sculpt! The first set, having been proofed for high performance steel in October this year at The London Proof House, are 32” long with ramped rib and weigh 930 grams, contrasting with their already lightweight steel barrels with the same length and rib weighing 1550 grams. This represents another World first for Longthorne, and the company hope to have these on display at The Dallas Safari Convention in January 2022.
One would not be mistaken for thinking that these would ‘kick like a mule’ however, this is not the case, in keeping with the rest of their range, these offer the same ‘negligible felt recoil and muzzle flip’ qualities as their steel barrels and are ideal as a very lightweight game gun. Recent testing has shown them to be extremely agile, pointable and stable. The company plan to release a series YouTube videos showing this gun in action in the coming weeks.
Marketing Director Elaine Stewart commented ‘Having tried these for myself with 24gm 7.5’s, I was amazed! They are so light at 6lb 6oz and yet you don’t know you’ve shot it!
Earlier this year Longthorne released a set of barrels completely machined from solid Damascus steel also proofed for high performance steel.
The company recommends trying a Longthorne for yourself to appreciate their unique qualities
