  • Once again, Sensirion trailblazes innovation in environmental sensing to create healthier and more productive envi-ronments for people. At this year’s Sensor+Test 2019 in Nuremberg and SensorsExpo 2019 in San José, the expert in environmental sensing, Sensirion, is announcing the SCD40 – the first miniaturized CO2 and RH/T sensor that fits in a space of just one cubic centimeter. This disruptive innovation is based on the photoacoustic sensing principle and combines minimal size with maximum performance to open up numerous new integration and application pos-sibilities. Due to its unprecedented price-performance ratio, the SCD40 is especially well suited for high-volume and cost-sensitive applications.

    Sensirion’s profound expertise in miniaturizing sensors has enabled a breakthrough step in CO2 sensing: with dimensions of just 12 x 12 x 7 mm3, the SCD40 footprint has been miniaturized by a factor of 5 compared to its predecessor, the SCD30. Using the photoacoustic sensing principle, the dimensions of the optical cavity are drastically reduced without compromising on sensor perfor-mance. Moreover, the SCD40 CO2 and RH/T sensor leverages Sensirion’s outstanding environmen-tal sensing expertise by incorporating a best-in-class humidity and temperature sensor that delivers two additional sensor outputs.     Thanks to new energy standards and better insulation, buildings have become increasingly energy efficient, but at the cost of accelerated deterioration in air quality.   • Sensirion, the worldwide leading manufacturer of high-quality flow and environmental sensors, is launching a new evaluation kit. With the EK-F3x-CAP, expiratory and proximal sensors of the SFM3xxx platform can be tested quickly and easily. The evaluation kit works with both the disposable and reusable variants of the flow sensors.

    The EK-F3x-CAP evaluation kit offers a simple and cost-effective way to test sensors of the SFM3xxx platform. The set consists of a USB cable which connects to the corresponding flow meters. Using the software available online, the sensors can be quickly tested under real-life conditions. There is no need to program a microprocessor as the evaluation kit can be directly connected to a PC. The software shows the measurement data directly on the user's computer screen. Furthermore, the data can be exported into an Excel spreadsheet which can then easily be saved and further processed.

    The Sensirion SFM3xxx platform includes sensors for inspiratory, expiratory and proximal flow measurement, as well as gas mixing in ventilation and anesthesia applications. With the platform, the sensor manufacturer offers its customers the right sensor for all flow measurements and underscores its worldwide expertise in the field of medical ventilation. The reusable "AW" versions are autoclavable and washable, and therefore well-suited for expiratory flow measurement. The disposable "D" versions are a safe and cost-effective alternative to reprocessing.

This enables integration of the sensor and evaluation circuit on a single CMOS silicon chip.   • The solution for gas, humidity and temperature sensing remotely from the main control board is now available worldwide through Sensirion’s distribution network.

    Sensirion, the expert in environmental sensing, now offers a multi-gas, humidity and temperature module, the SVM30. The module facilitates product development and sensor integration while at the same time offering great flexibility for product design. The SVM30 is especially suitable for customers that prioritize lean development and products, and perfectly appropri-ate for small and medium-sized companies. Based on Sensirion’s experience and expertise in environmental sensing, the SVM30 is optimized for easy design-in and sensing performance. The SVM30 is a multi-gas, humidity and temperature sen-sor combo module containing an SGP30 gas sensor as well as an SHTC1 humidity and temperature sensor. 

    The SGP30 gas sensor combines multiple metal-oxide sensing elements – the pixels – on one chip, thereby offering the possibility of measuring a total VOC signal (tVOC) and a CO2 equivalent signal (CO2eq) with one single sensor chip. The SVM30 also offers calibrated air quality output signals as well as compensation of humidity cross-sensitivity. The gas sensing element features unmatched robustness against contamination by siloxanes present in real-world applications, enabling unique long-term stability and low drift. Furthermore, the integrated SHTC1 humidity and temperature sensor covers a humidi-ty measurement range of 0 to 100% relative humidity (RH) and a temperature measurement range of -20 to 85°C with a typi-cal accuracy of ±5% RH and ±1°C. The gas, humidity and temperature sensor components are designed with Sensirion’s proven CMOSens® Technology. This technology offers a complete sensor system on a single chip, including the sensing elements, analog and digital signal processing, A/D converter, calibration and data memory as well as a digital communication interface supporting the I2C standard mode. Sensirion’s state-of-the-art production process, including full calibration and testing of the sensors, guarantees high reproducibility and reliability.

The SDP801-500Pa and SDP811-500Pa complement the product portfolio with an additional I2C address that enables the connection of two sensors to the same I2C bus. The SDP800 series are the perfect fit for the most demanding yet cost-sensitive applications like water heaters, burners, VAV cotrollers and medical respiratory applications.

    Product development of the SDP801-500Pa and SDP811-500Pa, new versions of the SDP800 series, is now complete and ready for high-volume production. With the new sensors, an additional I2C address is created.

    Differential pressure sensors of the SDP800 series are the result of leading the market in air flow measurement for more than 15 years and are the reliable and advanced solution for the most demanding yet cost-sensitive applications. The sensors are easy to integrate into water heaters, burners, VAV controllers and medical respiratory applications due to its proven form factor.

    The SDP800 sensors offer excellent repeatability and a measurement speed of up to 2 kHz. The fully calibrated and temperature-compensated sensors are available in versions that differ in pressure range, pneumatic connection, output signal, and now also different I2C addresses.

    Like all Sensirion differential pressure sensors, the SDP800 series is based on Sensirion's patented CMOSens® Technology. The differential pressure is measured by a thermal sensor element using the flow-through principle. Thanks to this, Sensirion's differential pressure sensors come with no zero-point drift and outperform traditional piezo-resistive membrane sensors in terms of sensitivity at low differential pressures, offset drift and hysteresis. The sensors are not susceptible to shocks and temperature cycles.
