Nexcomm Systems  

The Nexus Industrial is a small, cellular gateway designed for industrial and outdoor applications. It is the central hub of the Nexus System, connecting a variety of SensePoint sensor nodes to the cloud for bidirectional monitoring and control.

An RS-485 port or a 10/100 Ethernet port allows it to connect to a wide array of PLCs, controllers, sensors and other equipment An internal USB type A jack can be used for flash drives for removable storage or for connection to peripheral devices.

The Nexus Industrial natively supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth Low Energy (5.2) and Thread. Additional wired and wireless technologies can be supported through the addition of an auxiliary M.2 card, such as Wi-Fi HaLow, a long-range 900MHz link and CAN bus.

The Nexus Industrial has an IP67/68 diecast aluminum enclosure with an integrated mounting flange for easy installation in harsh industrial / outdoor environments. This makes implementing industrial IoT systems simple and inexpensive.

The Nexus Panel is a small, DIN-mount cellular gateway designed for industrial panel applications. RS-485 and USB ports allow it to connect to a wide array of PLCs, controllers, sensors and other equipment for live bidirectional monitoring and control. A single digital input acts as an alarm or trigger and a single digital output signals external devices.

It has two daughter card options: a 4-port Ethernet switch or a card for monitoring DC motors and pumps. The monitoring card has three PT100 RTD temperature sensor inputs and three inputs that can switch between 1V current transformers or 4-20mA sensors. In addition, it has one fixed 4-20mA input, two digital on/off inputs, and one current sink output. There is also one Ethernet port to connection to other devices.

The Nexus Panel natively supports a variety of wireless protocols, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth Low Energy (5.2) and Thread. Additional wired and wireless technologies can be supported through the addition of an auxiliary M.2 card, such as Wi-Fi HaLow, a long-range 900MHz link and CAN bus.

A CAT-1 cellular modem connects the Nexus Panel to cloud servers with a data rate that is high enough to support most Internet of Things (IoT) applications. This also integrates GPS into the gateway to provide positioning services.

Nexcomm Systems offers cloud services to maintain the data, generate reports and visualizations and send alerts and alarms through text, email and voice. However, these services are optional and the Nexcomm system can forward the data to a customer's existing cloud services.

The EdgePoint RTU is a cellular gateway and sensor hub designed for outdoor and industrial applications. RS-485, RS-232, Dallas 1-Wire and six inputs give it the ability to connect directly to a wide array of digital and analog sensors and equipment for live monitoring.

A solar powered option includes a rechargeable battery and solar charging cell integrated into the box. This eliminates the need for local power at the installation site, making installation much simpler. It also makes moving the EdgePoint RTU to different sites easy.

A battery back-up option seamlessly switches to battery if main power is interrupted, keeping the EdgePoint RTU alive and reporting.

A CAT-M1 cellular modem connects the EdgePoint RTU to cloud servers and offers a range that is longer than traditional CAT-4 modems. This also integrates GPS into the gateway to provide positioning services.

Nexcomm Systems offers cloud services to maintain the data, reporting and visualizations. However, the system can also forward the data to a customer's existing cloud services. This generic approach to connectivity makes the EdgePoint RTU outdoor cellular sensor hub ideal for integrating into new and existing systems.
