Accumold® specializes in producing small parts that are often measured in microns and sometimes are no bigger than a grain of sand. Or, they can be very small features on a larger sized part up to about 7 cm in diameter (what is referred to as a micro-feature). These features include extremely thin walls, micro-fluid channels or holes.
Both micro-parts and micro-features require very small tolerances, ranging from .02 mm or tighter. They also typically have complex geometries. Being able to manufacture these parts consistently and repeatably in both prototype volumes and high production volumes (millions + parts per year) are Accumold’s strengths.
Accumold also has extensive experience with leadframe and insert overmolding. This process combines molded plastic parts with other media such as metals, other plastics, glass, fabric, or other exotic materials. Combining complex components can be of high value when it comes to the manufacturing process. A robust solution for these micro “assemblies” can often provide significant design and manufacturing advantages, saving time and resources in the final assembly build.
