World Leaders in Micro-Mold® Manufacturing Solutions

Accumold® is a high-tech manufacturer of precision micro molded plastic components with part geometries from 5cm to less than 1mm in size. Processes include: insert molding, clean room molding and 2-shot molding. Materials include: PEEK, Ultem, LCP, and most engineered thermoplastics. Markets include: Micro Electronics, Medical, Micro Optics, Sensors, and other emerging technologies.

Micro molding capabilities are the essence of what we do at Accumold. We started our company on this exacting manufacturing process and it remains at the heart of our operation today.

Small Parts

Parts made with our Micro Mold® process range in size from just microns to a half inch (13 mm). These components often have complex geometry and very tight tolerances—with no margin for error.

Lead Frame/ Insert Molding

Accumold can mold plastic on and around all different types of metals, plastics, fabrics, foils, devices, etc. Some of these processes produce complete parts, while others are ready for further processing by our customers or their contract manufacturers. In many cases, high-speed handling can be added to these processes to save resources.

  • Accumold® specializes in producing small parts that are often measured in microns and sometimes are no bigger than a grain of sand. Or, they can be very small features on a larger sized part up to about 7 cm in diameter (what is referred to as a micro-feature). These features include extremely thin walls, micro-fluid channels or holes.

Both micro-parts and micro-features require very small tolerances, ranging from .02 mm or tighter. They also typically have complex geometries. Being able to manufacture these parts consistently and repeatably in both prototype volumes and high production volumes (millions + parts per year) are Accumold’s strengths.

Accumold also has extensive experience with leadframe and insert overmolding. This process combines molded plastic parts with other media such as metals, other plastics, glass, fabric, or other exotic materials. Combining complex components can be of high value when it comes to the manufacturing process. A robust solution for these micro “assemblies” can often provide significant design and manufacturing advantages, saving time and resources in the final assembly build.
