Talk to us about PICMG's open standards for IIoT!

Founded in 1994, PICMG is a nonprofit consortium of companies and organizations that collaboratively develop open standards for military, industrial, and commercial embedded computing applications. Among many key standards developed by PICMG, the IOT.1® and  MicroSAM® industrial IOT specifications will be highlighted in Sensors Converge Expo booth 233 and in a Conference workshop led by PICMG CTO Doug Sandy.

PICMG's IIoT effort is centered around creating plug-and-play interoperability in the sensor domain, essentially to the “last foot” of the network. The PICMG approach focuses on plug-and-play interoperability of the sensor domain. This encompasses a large installed base of non-IoT (not IP-enabled) products and new IoT-enabled smart sensors. It allows for systemic detection and control of sensors and control points in a very simple, reliable, and easy-to-use, human-readable format. In order to achieve this, we have developed a family of three IoT specifications that meet each of these goals specifically. A full description of the standards can be found here:  https://bit.ly/PICMG-IIOT

Brands: IOT.1, MicroSAM, COM-HPC, COM Express, CompactPCI, cPCI Serial, AdvancedTCA, MicroTCA, PICMG 1.3.
