The IoT market is one of the fastest-growing markets today. Tens of billions of wireless IoT devices exist today, most of which use a disposable battery as a source of power, and many industry analysts predict that we will reach a trillion IoT devices in the next 20 to 30 years. The environmental and maintenance costs associated with the disposal of the batteries in these devices is enormous. HaiLa has solved the issue of battery life and maintenance in low-power IoT sensors by creating a communications solution which is super power-efficient. We reduce the need for power in sensing devices by replacing the traditional Wi-Fi radio chip in sensors with the HaiLa solution which leverages technologies like backscatter to reflect data on existing ambient RF signals. HaiLa’s communication solution will reduce battery consumption over the useful life of the device, extending the current best-in-class Wi-Fi solutions which last up to a year with battery life of 15+ years of operation, and we will eventually eliminate the need for a battery in many of these devices.
