Mohawk’s Additive Manufacturing Innovation Centre helps businesses build capacity in additive manufacturing and 3D printing through applied research projects, training, workshops and conferences. The centre supports industry innovation using new manufacturing technologies by partnering on projects. As an applied research lab, the centre and its team of staff, faculty and students provide a test bed for industry to develop new products and processes.
The centre is a regional hub for expertise in DMLS technology (metal 3D printing). The team has expertise in additive manufacturing, engineering technology and materials. The centre is equipped with industrial scale, state-of-the-art machines to manufacture products from a wide range of plastics and metals. These machines allow for the development of complex geometries.
The centre’s manufacturing capabilities include Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) for plastic, Stereolithography (SLA) and Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM). The centre also has access to sophisticated pre- and post-processing technologies for design, heat treatment and stress relieving, surface preparation and secondary machining.
