  • The latest additions to the Balluff BMP family of magnetic position sensors combine IO-Link, analog voltage and analog current in a singular device to overcome the limitations of discrete pneumatic cylinder switches.

    The newly released sensors provide continuous linear feedback — detecting and measuring the position of pneumatic or hydraulic cylinder rods and actuators through non-ferrous housing walls, over the entire measurement range. And they do it all contact free. Ideal for most industries, they are especially advantageous for Industry 4.0 as they improve ease of automation size change and allow for condition monitoring and predictive maintenance.

    The BMP magnetic position sensors calculate the actual target position of the magnet and output it as a position-dependent analog or IO-Link signal. They deliver signal stability and reliability, and the sensors’ compact size allows for integration in very limited installation spaces.

    The IO-Link and analog all-in-one options give the full suite of IO-Link functionality including integrated switch points, internal sensor temperature, fast cycle time, measurement value, and scaling factor and status.

  • This IO-Link master block: 

    • reduces inductive noise using coil choke filters
    • reduces conductive noise with its fiberglass-reinforced, polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) housing
    • reduces capacitive noise with its thick profile, which raises the printed circuit board away from the backplane

    This master block was designed to protect against electromagnetic interference that can negatively impact work processes. The non-conductive PPS housing does the work of a separate grounding plate. And PPS is also inherently non-stick, so weld spatter slides off it. The BNI00CY IO-Link master block’s built-in display allows configuring of network parameters, and its embedded web server allows for remotely configuring the block and connected IO-Link devices.

    This master block offers four Class A IO-Link ports and four Class B IO-Link ports.

  • Simplify Smart Service Integration in Harsh Industrial Environments

    Electromagnetic interference (EMI) can negatively impact work processes, interfering with digital, analog and communication equipment. Balluff's new IO-Link master can insulate your productivity by:

    • Reducing inductive noise with coil choke filters.
    • Reducing conductive noise with its fibreglass-reinforced plastic, polypropylene sulphide (PPS) housing, that breaks conductive loops.

    This block offers four Class A IO-Link ports and four Class B IO-Link ports. The Class A ports can be connected to 3- or 4-pin IO-Link devices using appropriate cables. Pin 2 can be used for an actuator power on these ports and it is powered through the device power (Us). Pin 2 on these ports can be used as a digital in/out. Class B ports are primarily used for devices requiring isolated actuator power (Ua), for example in robotic grippers or valve manifolds, and are connected using 5-pole cables. The 3-pin Class A devices can also be connected to the Class B master port on this master using a 3-pole cable.

    Like other Balluff IO-Link master blocks, the BNI00CY offers advanced features. Its built-in display allows configuring of network parameters and aids during troubleshooting. Connect to its embedded webserver to remotely configure the block and connected IO-Link devices. In difficult EMI and welding environments, this block keeps performing.

    Our inductive couplers are an optimal choice for noncontact, high-power transmission applications. The inductive coupler system transmits high-level electrical power, up to 120 W, 5 A at 24 VDC, from the base unit to a remote unit across an air gap.

    The inductive couplers are an ideal method to replace mechanical slip rings, which have mechanical components that require ongoing maintenance. No maintenance is required when using non-contact coupling.

    Additional uses are found in battery charging stations for automated guided vehicles (AGV), automated tool changers and robotic end effectors with high power requirements. With pin-based coupling, pins can break, oxidate, and are susceptible to dust and water. With magnetic induction for power transmission, there is nothing to plug in or connect. The remote coupler only needs to be in proximity to the base’s magnetic field.

    Additionally, these couplers provide flexibility in aligning the base and remote surfaces. LEDs on the base side of the coupler provide operating status visualizations indicating power, in/out of zone, connection established, and an overload or short circuit condition.

    The IP67-rating provides protection from oil and water, while internal temperature monitoring protects them from overheating.
